Damn, sorry to hear that. Hope you find something soon. Despite my having a masters degree, I'm considering factory work because I have a good chance at getting it.

There's nothing like that around here, unfortunately; most places around here won't hire me purely because I'm a "Techie", someone who came to this town for the school.

The reason why I have an in-road to a factory is because I work at the factory outlet attached to it. I have a Master of Library Science degree, and spent the first half of last year looking for a job, with very little success. I was either underqualified (for the "entry-level jobs, which were being taken by people with experience) or overqualified (for positions that didn't require a MLS degree). The last job I applied to, I had a phone interview (the last of three I had out of probably 30 applications) and later a face to face interview, the only one I had last year. I was rejected because I had a MLS and was overqualified. I was even sent a couple articles stating how the library field is extremely hard to break into due to a shrinking field and lots of librarians with experience taking the jobs that should go to new graduates. Needless to say, this has me pretty jaded about the field. I was eventually hired as a shelver at the local public library, and I fill in at the desk in the children's department occasional saturdays, but I haven't applied for a job in over a year. Between both of my jobs, I work about 23 hours a week for almost minimum wage.

Well, in this case, it's not so much that I'm over-qualified as "We don't like your kind 'round here."

I just bought a hard drive to install in some one else's computer half an hour ago and the order status is at the point I can't change it...

If for some reason that drive doesn't work in a week and those drives are still up for sale, I might need one.

It's possible. They're really nice drives; I'm genuinely surprised I've not gotten any bids, considering.
