Honestly, I'd recommend just upgrading to the SAI 2 Beta. Your existing SAI license will work for it.

It's more stable, the linework tool's better, it has an actual text tool now, among other things.

This question will probably seem strange to you, but what resolution do you typically save your artwork at? And in what format?

hmmm I use 1400X1050 at 350 pixel/inch and I save in .SAI format and PNG

Alright. That helps a lot to know what is going on with the works I save lately on why they appear at a strange resolution and format.

Keep the following in mind, but don't panic when reading it:
Furaffinity has some strange image upload logic. When submitting images past 1280p, it has to be uploaded twice or Furaffinity resizes them to 1280p and compresses them to .JPG (it labels the file as .PNG but it actually is a .JPG). I still don't know why this is a thing, but probably due to outdated server code. On Deviantart, I recommend selecting display options as "Original size".

Also, you definitely aren't the only one unaware of this.


As for software, I use Krita (they released a new version lately). It has a long learning curve though, almost as bad as photoshop's learning curve, and SAI 2 should be fine to use if you like it.
