Getting started with SCP
Decided I wanted to try and give a quick introduction to people who want to get into start reading the SCP wiki.
SCP is a wiki, with over 3000+ short stories mostly told from the perspective of a organization that protects the public form the paranormal. These stories are written by community members, and is considered one of the largest collaborative writing projects on the internet. Any games are fan games based off the setting.
SCP-049 is "The plague Doctor" and a character/short story from this setting.
You can almost think of the SCP foundation as almost like a variety show.
It started out with a collection of horror stories in different horror genres. Like:
SCP-173: The sculpture (The original article that started everything.)
SCP-093: The Red Sea object
SCP-610: "The flesh that hates".
But as time went on to include many genres of stories told in the format.
SCP-1470: "The Telepathic Spider" and SCP-1522 "Ships That Pass In The Night" are stories about the foundation protecting the paranormal, from a world that would destroy it.
SCP-1867 "A Gentleman" and SCP-3540: "Gay Reapers, Pride Reapers, Don't Queer the Reaper, or some other pun involving Psychopomps" on the other hand are examples of more humorous stories told in the story.
The heritage collection is always a good place to start reading,

Another good starting place to to go the the "GoI Hub", these are the "groups of interest" and contain collections of SCP's written about recurring villains, rivals and themes in the wiki. Pick a group that interests you and start reading.
If you need help with the terms and concepts here is a good primer:
The listed "In universe terms" here are basic concepts in the wiki's stories, and what they mean. Other terms listed are in regards to terms the community uses when talking about proposed new SCP's. These other terms aren't necessary to know as a reader.
