Oh, thanks for asking, yes, lots of things are happening here though not as extreme as I feared when I wrote this journal. Our former president was arrested and now he is out of this year's presidential race. With this, tensions are building up towards the elections that are bound to happen in October. I really can't say what is going to happen on the coming months but since my country is facing a long lasting crisis we got used to expect the worst.

Safety is a big concern here, as Brazil is one of the most violent countries to live nowadays.

The deal is quite complex to explain, it actually puts that famous show "house of cards" to shame. We citizens can hardly tell if Lula is guilty or not, but the fact is that they finished his trial and gave a guilty verdict in a record time, much faster than any normal trial would take and that is absurdly suspicious as the accusation side had no concrete proof of any crime, only guesses.

They rushed everything to take him out of the political game because he was the favorite candidate for this year's elections with a big chance of winning. The current government and its supporters (big international groups and multimillionaire businessman) didn't want him on their way so everything was done to get him out regardless if he was guilty or not.

The truth about Brazil is that the politicians in general don't give a damn about the country and treat the people as resources to be exploited. Those who stand against this pattern are either crushed politically (Lula's case I'd say) or killed or worse. Mass media supports the current government entirely and so the masses blindly follow what they say.

Gosh they even approved a law to change what is going to be taught on all schools here, it is a big brainwash to make sure the mass stays as ignorant as possible for the big cats freely do whatever they want. These people are selling the national companies that used to be our pride such as Embraer (aircraft manufacturer) for ridiculous prices and sadly what I am saying is not even one percent of the whole problem.

Those who have resources to go out are doing it but those who can't sadly have to stay and watch. I really don't know what to do but feel hopeless :/

The government makes it almost impossible for normal citizens to own guns, so we become hostages of the criminals and the police as well.

Lula's arrest is very recent but the events that culminated in his arrest are unfolding since 2014 when we had our last Presidential race and Dilma won by a very small margin, making people in the whole country argue if it was a valid election or not. Some people even started petitions trying to split the country in two to get rid of those who supported her and Lula. Of course this didn't happen XD.

Dilma was impeached and forced to leave the presidency because the other two powers in the government machine boycotted her in extreme levels making it impossible for her to stay in power. Being the other powers extremely Right oriented and she is from a Left party with a weak alliance, they crushed her politically and mass media sold it as a good thing.

Her impeachment only proved, to those who can see, that money and influence of big business groups and politicians are more powerful than the legitimacy of an election. Sadly, in the end, the elections are useless because those with money will eventually put the people they want in power with more or less scandals, and since the media is a big player on this game, their role is to make the masses agree with the candidates these people want in power. Which is happening today.

I made it a personal rule to question everything the media says as rarely it is the truth or the whole truth.

I highly recomend that you do set up a patreon or some similer style of thing... I'd back you without question, and I know many of your followers would aslo, you may not be able to move away on that, but it would make for a slightly less stress full time...

I am really considering getting a patreon started, even started sketching a banner of some sort, my only concern now is if they suddenly decide to shut down the internet, so I am waiting a bit to see what is bound to happen.

but your patron would cover the internet.... atleast... the cost there of, not sure about what is happening there or if that is why it may be cut??... I mean I'd still want to stay in contact with you any way I could ^_^ (honestly wouldn't complain sending you letters! XD )

Problem isn't exactly costs, it is more a problem of having the internet shut down in my country if a comflict breaks. First thing they would put down are commumications :/. So now me waiting to see what is going to happen. Don't worry because if things go bad I'll surely embrace pen & paper ^^;

I sympathize, my friend. such events give an unstable situation in the country. Unas in Ukraine in recent years, also problemmy with this. It is sad. But if ordinary people are not involved in scandals, blood will not flow. I hope your people are smarter than ours, and soon everything will be fine. Take care, my friend, okay?

Thank you very much for your words, I recall hearing about the situation in Ukraine, sadly I am afraid we are heading the same way and at some point a rupture might happen. People here where I live are blinded by hate they can't see the big picture. On the meantime, I'll do my best to stay safe and keep you all posted.
