Just follow the quests until you can move between worlds at will. After that...
The Braton (Not the MK1, that's starter fodder but get it to level 30 all the same if you can), and then the Boltor are good starter Primary weapons that'll carry you a good way into the game until you have the resources and blueprints to try more things. Make credits and try out a variety of weapons from the 'shop' (Select the setting that says 'blueprints only' and browse around. It's the console on the right side of the lander's cockpit.)
I also strongly suggest you do plenty of survival, defense, and interception missions. (the so-called 'endless missions' which are basically massive killing sprees with objectives.) Not only are they good practice with a sliding scale of enemies starting from 'drunken anemic idiots' to 'gods of annihilation' in a smooth curve which is great combat practice, they are also a good way to rack up Exp and level weapons early as well as get a good stockpile of certain drops. (This is also a good way to get a frame called 'Oberon' which is a pretty solid jack of all trades. His bits drop from 'eximus' enemies. They're basically elite mooks with fancy powers not unlike some warframe powers, you'll know em when you see em.)
Specific Tips:
-Never sell your last blue print/prime part of a type until you are MUCH further into the game and have an understanding of the risks of maybe losing a suddenly rare drop
-Read the tutorials and understand that different damage types work better on diff enemies, even within a single faction
(Physical dmgs are slash/pierce/impact and energy damages are much more complex but each and every one of them not only affects enemies differently but has a different 'status' affect which does fancy things
-Try to carry a primary and secondary weapon that fulfill differing roles. Carry a heavy hitter and a dakka, or a close range weapon and a long range head popper. Don't carry 2 of the near identical weapons without reason
-Keep unlocking planets and areas!!!!!!
Nothing is more infuriating than a really cool drop or event and not being able to access it without someone giving you a 'ride' there. Unlock most the map early on as you can. Once you unlock a place called the 'Index' I will say that this is possibly one of thebest places to rack up millions of credits if you are confident in your combat abilities and smart about avoiding unnecessary risks
If console is ANYthing like PC though....

Oh well, I imagine you're well into the game by now, and hope you had fun
