After 13 years of being an NC furry, I finally went to FWA!
Rather than write some long story, I'll just throw out some highlight points.
Overall, the con was amazing. I didn't start going to larger furry events until Tarpaw 2017 here in the Triangle area, which led to Howler's Eve and ACE (Anthro Crossroads East) 2018. After which, I wanted to do more, so I went to my first huge con- FWA. Quite the new experience!
Planning. The only real downside was that I waited too long. I ended up finding people to room with, but was so busy with things and didn't think to ask and realized just before the con that the hotel reservation was a cheap one some 15 minute drive away from the con, and it wasn't my car we were using. Needless to say, the cheap room ended up being a "get what you pay for" experience, and the inability to come and go to the room and bed as I pleased was definitely a hinderance. But, oh well. I'll know better for next time.
I got to see a lot of furs in person who I only knew online for years. That was pretty sweet. Also got to hang out with some GA furs who I'd met at ACE before.
Gaming had some great moments. I had to dig my Pokken knowledge up from the graveyard, but managed to make a Lucario player throw some f-bombs at my Braixen zoning game. Still got a handshake, so it's all good. Also, a specific counter pressed right before a Dedede swung the rocket hammer. Ha!
Weirdest moment? I ended up at a vore meet. Not by accident, but rather I got brought along to it by friends. I chatted a bit before I kinda noticed people were looking at my badge, not just for my fursona name, but to see if I had one of those "predator" or "prey" thing everyone else had underneath their badges. So after a while I kinda slid off to the side and just did stuff on my phone.
Anyway, certainly looking forward to doing it again. I don't think I'll turn into a "fly to all sorts of major cons" guy, but I should absolutely do FWA again, along with the stuff in NC like Howler's Eve and ACE.

That sounds great! Sorry that you had that issue with the room part but I'm glad you had fun otherwise. You should consider trying to make it to MFF at the end/beginning of November/December and we could meet! ^_^
