Unexpected heartache

◢✥◣ My dog was put to sleep last night.
She was 9 years old, she would have been 10 this year.
She seemed fine prior to last night.
My cousin came over on Sunday and Roxy was playing with his kids who she adored.
She was eating fine, drinking, her poops were normal.
But then last night she suddenly just crumbled.
She wouldn't eat or drink, she was so tired, she could barely walk. In fact by the time the vet came into the waiting room and called her in I had to carry her into the vet's room.
She was dropped off at 10pm for tests and by 12am me and my mum were back at the vet saying goodbye to her.
She had cancer of the spleen, the same thing I lost my other German Shepherd to.
Except unlike Manson my other GSD Roxy showed no signs of having any cancer until last night.
She was so weak, we agreed to have her put to sleep.
I didn't sleep so good last night thinking about her.
She seemed fine one day then went right down hill the next.
RIP Roxy <3
Such a gentle girl.
I may not reply to comments or be talkative for a little while.
Please forgive me if I'm difficult to get hold of.

The loss of any pet is always difficult, but having it hit so suddenly is genuinely heart wrenching.
I wish I had something more comforting to say, but there are no words that can truly console what you're feeling.
She will always be in your heart.
Is that the little dude we talked about before?
That guy sounded like he was a proper little honey <3
It's strange, when Manson my previous dog got cancer in his spleen we knew he had it.
I remember putting on his harness one evening to take him for his last walk of the day and he yelped. and then the next day he tinkled in the house which was totally out of character for him! He was really good at asking to go out for a tinkle.
We got him to the vet and got him diagnosed because he showed signs he was unwell.
But with Roxy there was nothing at all!
She seemed perfectly healthy, she even got excited when the kids came over.
And then just out of nowhere she crumbles and it turns out to be the same cancer as what Manson had.
One thing is certain, as much as I adore German Shepherds as a breed I'll never get another one. I'd be too scared of the same thing happening again ;-;
They give you so much love and happiness, and then cancer creeps up and snatches them away before it's their time.
I thought I was statistically unlucky when I lost Manson to cancer, but two GSD's to the same cancer!
Sorry, I didnt think I was gunna ramble but ramble happened.
I am truly sorry for that though, rhose little signs escalating and leading to something so much worse is never easy but you gave it your best shot, thats all ya can do. No need to appologize either, it sounds like you needed that off your chest, conditions are just.. common for them sadly, amazing wonderful dogs but many risks that hurt the heart if they happen
