April Update - Turbulent Times!
Hello, everyone!
It's been quite a while since I've done one of these journals! My apologies for that.
Well, time to correct that as well as update you all on recent developments! First of all, no post last weekend, sorry for that, too! I normally like to make sure that I make a post every Friday where possible, but alas, this has been a particularly chaotic month! Being essentially on holiday the first two weeks, seriously ill for the latter two and then moving house (again,) I dare say I have grounds to say I've been reasonably distracted!
Still though, that doesn't mean I'm not going to make it up to you all with some upcoming content. ^.^
So! What's in the pipeline?
Upcoming Works:
Plaisir - Short - Still in Business
I've recently been inspired to indulge some terrible inspiration... and revisit some old ground... some... shall we say, Dark ground. Say, the kind you get when you're standing on one astral body and another comes between it and its main source of illumination. That guy. It's not an April Fool's joke, this time, either.
A juicy, if monstrous short. Look forwards to it this weekend!
Plaisir - Road Trip - 07 - The Badlands part 3
Read part 1 and part 2 here!
This month's main-series post is the thrilling conclusion of the latest installment of the Cafe Plaisir - Road Trip saga! The crew of the RV Plaisir have found trouble in the Rocky Mountains, the last great barrier between east and west on the grand continental nation of the united states. Here, where civilisation runs thinnest of all, the jaws of danger close in upon the unwary hedonists of Plaisir, leaving them stranded, surrounded and seperated in the Badlands.
The hour of their greatest need is upon them. Can they yet prevail? Find out next weekend!
Commisioners:
Don't worry, in all of the chaos you haven't been forgotten. I don't want to give anything away, but I want the following of you to know:
DarkEeveeon and The Burning Woods
FAWayne and Food Porn II
ExplosiveCrate and In the Dark Cellar
Starts have been made on all of your stories. I am optimistic that one of your stories will be featured as the weekend after next's post. ^.^
Results of the Appeal to Critique!
Writing:
For those of you who were unaware, in February I posted a journal requesting feedback and critique for my current operating practises. It can still be found via this link, here.
One of the suggestions levelled was that I try posting shorter parts more frequently. Well, I attempted that with this, latest main chapter of the Cafe Plaisir - Road Trip saga! Alas, with mixed results. Whilst the individual parts have been quicker to write and easier to digest, the extended process of critique, editing and approval required for a Cafe Plaisir piece may just make this impractical. Polish must be applied, characters by other authors must have their portrayals approved and people can only sit down to do these things when they have time - and it's better to consolidate.
In future, there may be some wisdom in splitting up the posting of larger chapters into bite-sized chunks, but this would have to be after the fact. For now, it's been a case of much shorter chapters released only slightly more often, sad to say. And plus, people come to me for hefty reads, don't they? I hate to let them down, there, So I'm still conflicted!
As for PMD:A I have a freer hand, there, but still like to get the pieces properly critted and polished before positing them. Still, when I soon finish off Chapter 33: The Battle for Avalon, which has been sadly neglected given the awful timing of it being the piece I was working on when I destroyed my wrists and was unable to write for three months (I've become averse to my favourite story! Whinge!) I'll see about splitting that up for delivery, perhaps!
Oh! Concerning PMD:A, did you know that I've been working on a re-write? It's true! So far, the first six chapters have been touched up, repolished, straightened out and generally improved. If you fancied giving them another read, now's a good time. ^.^

Now there have been some significant developments, here!
It's fair to say that my art has been significantly underperforming compared to my hopes, expectations and investment of effort. So, after consulting you all, I decided to try some experiments. Making proper use of Clip Studio Paint, which Freaky was kind enough to get me for my birthday, I've been experimenting with lined art and more cartoony styles.
Example 1: Tender Loving Cruelty a purely linework comic.
Example 2: The Pretty Glaceon of Plaisir a lined, coloured picture.
which should be compared with the picture for Mozarella Stuffed Bre which uses CSP with my more typical style.
Now, honestly, it's early days and hard to say, but so far these newer pictures are underperforming compared to the ones done in my old style. I'm not sure how well this is working out for me.
I'll have to keep on experimenting and trying new things, as is in the essense of creative pursuits, but so far, definitely leaning towards learning a few lessons and then switching back to my previous style. Well, we'll see how things go!
Though, uh... it's going to have to wait a bit.
You see, my Tablet is kind of dying on me. The USB port has been working less and less as time has wore on. It was manageable at first, but now it's gotten to the point where I simply can't practically draw.
There is some hope of getting the thing fixed and I can borrow a tablet some of the time, so we're not in complete panic stations, but expect less art for a while, sorry. ^.^;

And hey, you're got plenty on your own plate. You're doing great. ^.^
Though admittedly, it's a little frustrating. Part of me can't stand the sight of those black lines on the page. I feel like they should be gotten rid of but time and again I'm told it's an improvement.
I suspect I may be alone in my tastes.
