fanestar has been chosen as our featured poet for May/June 2018.
FaneStar quite often shows a delicate economy of language and form.
So, without further ado, we'd like to share several of our favourites from FaneStar, as well as several interview-styled questions our featured poet been kind enough to answer.

Q&A with FaneStar:
1. When did you begin writing poems and verse?
FaneStar says: I began writing poems when I was a young child. Sometime during elementary school I began writing as instructed by my teachers for classwork. I just never stopped. I really began taking my writing seriously during middle school. Around the time I was published for the first time.
2. What inspires and/or motivates your poetry the most?
FaneStar says: I'd have to say emotions inspire me the most. Whether they are my own or someone else's. I feel deeply connected to emotions. When an emotion sticks with me for a few days I tend to write a poem that involves that emotion.
3. Does your work take influences from any poets in particular?
FaneStar says: My work does not take influences from anyone else.
4. And, similarly, who might be your favorite poet of all time?
FaneStar says: My favorite poet of all time is Emily Dickinson.
5. What about your favorite poem of all time? Explain?
FaneStar says: My favorite poem of all time was written by Emily Dickinson, number 409, "The Soul selects her Society-" This poem has always proved to be thought provoking in addition to the strong emotions that this poem evokes. It's a poem that carries strength that has helped me through some troubling times in my younger days.
6. Aside from poets, do any others arts or artists inspire you?
FaneStar says: I've been inspired by many artists over the years, both within and outside of the fandom. The artist that has inspired me the most is surprisingly a furry. atrueblueartist has an art style that's not only appealing to the eye, but that also stirs something within me that I can't quite explain.

7. Similarly, do you practice any other arts besides poetry?
FaneStar says: In addition to poetry, I've delved into the art of Tarot.
8. And what hobbies and interests, if any, do you have outside the arts?
FaneStar says: Outside of the arts I love the biological sciences. Primarily paleontology. It's a beautiful blend of geology and biology and I can't get enough of it.
9. Would you like to provide one interesting fact about yourself readers should know?
FaneStar says: My connection with emotions stems from the synesthesia I was born with. I see people's emotions as colors in addition to feeling them.
10. Provide your favorite personal poem [that you wrote] to be featured [alongside the pre-chosen poems].
FaneStar says:WHAT COLORS ARE YOU FEELING? still persists to be my personal favorite.
