be careful with that I got completely burned out by charging way too less for the work I put into it and the demand in time and turn around my commissioners wanted it. I just gave up completely and lived with owing a whole twenty bucks to one and thirty to another. but the workload was around one hundred and fifty instead of the low low price I thought I was not as good at. ...Until I learned everyone else was charging incredible sums for their stuff, it made me even more depressed and burnt out.
after 'looking' at your prices you are way more than I do for less work, now I'm even more depressed, i do full color nine frames for 25 usd!

In sum, I totally understand what you’re saying. Watching some artists achieve comparatively impossible feats can be a painful reminder of one’s own ambitions and unattained goals. Believe me, as in instructor of illustration, my students often achieve far more than I can, and much faster.

But to be fair to myself, and to the commissioner, my prices are not arbitrary values. They are based on minimum wage and time. I use eight dollars an hour as my base price. If you divide my fees by that number, you will have a number of hours it takes me to accomplish that particular thing.

I charge $25 per page regardless of how many characters of whether it is in color, which it usually is. Though the one thing I would rather finally figure out is how to cell shade.

I forgot how to keep my logs of what I did in the creation of a picture that I almost learned how to do in the vocational class I took from Professor Rex at Miramar college a few years ago, I had Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop 6 on a Macintosh, and was the only student that used a digitizing tablet to draw most of my projects with. I also took concurrently though he at first said I shouldn't take his other class in Photoshop 6 only.

I took a course at City College in typography and learned HOW to format a book in different kinds of typeface, specific for what the project required. - didn't pass through the cloud required I use a Macintosh computer or an Apple. I didn't have one so I was not able to get the homework done on time or even know what it was until class next session because you had to have a Macintosh or an Apple to get on Apple's cloud to even see what the homework was. The computer lab was closed most of the time on weekends even though the rest of the campus was open, and I was continually kicked out when I would go during a different classes' time where I was not part of that class. In previous years with Schwartzenegger as governor, I got my school loan early in the year to buy stuff I needed for class. In the latter Jerry Brown year he kept my money for the entire semester so he could use it and commented it was a pay-back loan, I did not have any money to go to college without it, having to resort to dropping classes because I couldn't afford book or the right computer making my college return a complete failure, I wanted to try and get a BA in something before I die. This resulted in my 'loan being a lot lower than the 2400 dollars I was promised, the loan was incorrectly documented, I only got 900 dollars but the records said I got the full 2400 because Good old Jerry used some of MY loan for himself and shorted me the rest! I had to sell my car and it forced me to default on my loan since there were no jobs in California for older people during Obama, so I owe 5,000 plus extra interest for late payments on a 2500 dollar loan.

Still, I know how to do things in the typographical trade since I have a photographic memory. But without relearning the log system to keep track of what you do I am unhirable!
