I don't mean to be heartless, but let's be practical here; the old will die and their suffering will end, at the end of their lives. Shouldn't those kinds of resources be put towards helping the young and starving to be able to eat food, drink clean water, and live long enough to make a difference?
It's impossible to save everyone, and everyone dies.
