Future commissions (i've got questions)
Hi! SO I finished my june commission queue and started to realize that doing painting commissions aren't the brightest idea right now. Let me explain.
The whole 2018 so far revolved around me getting into animation unis (passed 1/3) and I had lot of trouble doing interesting stuff that isn't furries or painting. Because in animation, you gotta draw fast and clearly. And since ill actually start animation uni this september, it would be good to get my speed up so that i dont burn out the first week. Meaning, my future commissions would be less detailed painitngs and realistic shading and more toony, linearts, character designs and so on. Thats where the questions begin.
Would you still be interested in commissions from me, if they were linearted and more experimental as for the style/character adoptions? What kind of pricing would you consider fair? How about some low poly 3D models? (I'm still a noobie but its so much fun, https://sketchfab.com/flemkid here are my first tries)
Finally, i'm going to start a youtube channel soon where i'll try to explain how I paint so that you can learn and replace me :'D So if you have any specific questions you'd like adressed in a video, please let me know ;D
Thank you for reading and possible commenting ^^

FA+

but in general, yes i would be still interested in commissioning you for more experimental/lined stuff
I'm looking forward to your youtube channel :>
im writting to you to let you know that what are you saying its scares me a little and it makes me sad too
im Kylie, im a profesional animator and also, animator professor at university.. and guess what
you are one of my refferent in illustration
I like your art the way it is and to be honest I dont think that you must change your style just for animation, "less detailed painitngs and realistic shading" is not " better" for animation, I mean, im not saying that is bad, if you want to improve and try its nice! but you must know that your style how already is is super original and super interesting to take it and animate it ( 3D or frame by frame draw), so in my experience you dont have to change anything!
and about draw fast, I think that you already have a nice rhytm at working
something that I always told to my students is "do your best, never sacrifice quality for quantity"
to answer your question, me and my best friend Gosseta, we are saving money to commision you please! dont change your style!!
>>Im not saying that is bad to change style or study another style, thats super ok for every artist! but you mustknow that your style, your designs and your colors are super animation accurate
>>I will drop here my animation degree if you want to watch it, we made it with only 2 friends
sorry for my horrible english

i don't want you to worry about me giving up painting/my style completely, I just want to improve in areas I felt very weak in during my portfolio making.
Since I'll be doing another portfolio soon, I want to feel confident in what im doing. Also get better speed in drawing, since i tended to fiddle with one sketch for a LONG time :D
Nevertheless, I will propably do some smaller commission on the side like icons or something handleable like that, and if I do make full painting commissions, they will propably in form of YCHs if thats okay. But the majority of my future commissions will be this new experimental style or idk :D I'm still figuring stuff out
Also your animation is super good!!? I love the simplistic 3D a lot ;;
