I have a question, why do you let the internet get to you?

Not the OP but...

I'm gonna guess it's that some of us don't have much in terms of real life social circles, and the internet is all we have. We can't just go chill with our real-life friends when the internet is being harsh, because we don't have that option.

This is just a broad thing I've noticed in the past few years so I could be wrong.

Also, despite what people say, internet behavior does often correlate to real-life personality.

I have a social life lol; I just also extensively interact online in a variety of places. To answer the first question: I USE the internet along with thousands of others, and Id like to be able to I dunno, look at slash/erotica for example without getting punted in the face with people being shitty to each other or praising poisonous/worse behavior likes its OK.

Having basic emotions, and being irritated that people in general refuse to have basic decency, common sense, or compassion is a natural response that Im completely allowed and GOING to continue to have.

Not everyone can just "ignore" everything forever. Thats not how it works.

Sorry for assuming but it wasn't aimed at you personally, just a problem a lot of this generation has.

I would definitely like people online to be nicer and stop being try-hard edgy bullies but that's probably not gonna happen, unfortunately. :(

Oh no its fine lol; I got what you meant. I just felt I should clarify about myself. And you arent wrong. A lot of people are disconnected from irl social interaction because of how commonplace/unconscious technology is. Tech is gr8, we just have to like, you know, talk to people lmao.

As for behavior? My personal favorite of what I title "furry fuckerys" is rampant toxic masculinity being presented as acceptable or attractive. Its gross. Or worse, reducing submissive men to sexual objects and being like "this is fine." Its not. There's a difference between being kinky, and being dehumanizing. Furries/gay men in general dont seem to get that.

I get the second part, but the first part still confuses me. What do they do that shows toxic masculinity?

Also I do have a theory that due to gay men suffering a lot of early bullying/rejection and not being able to develop social skills, friendships, etc., it hinders social progress that most straight men develop eventually and realize how they're allowed to treat people.

Toxic masculinity i.e; constantly demeaning feminine traits or stereotyping men who exhibit them as certain things (see: submissive or weak), "I only top," literally never drawing anything but the same bara or bad hyper porn characters, sexually predatory behavior, etc. Ive ranted about these kinds of things numerous times in the past lol. Theres plenty more.

And yes, a lot of gay men are not as socially developed as they could be because of how they get treated. They tend to go through their "highschool immature romance stage" as adults because they didnt have it during well, highschool, like most people as well.

Is there a different between guys who just really enjoy fem bottoms, and guys who are fem hating though?? This is like saying that most straight men are misogynist for liking sex with women.

I have seen guys be really mean and disrespectful to fems (yes there's no shortage of "masc4masc" furries), but not quite as often as outside the fandom. Most guys simply say they're not interested.

Most guys say they "arent interested" because they've been taught from day one of their lives that anything feminine is bad or "girly" or lesser than being big and bad, and traditionally masculine. Even though the vast majority of men will never ever achieve or maintain that garbage standard. Men gay and straight are incredibly disrespectful and dismissive of feminine men, or androgynous men pretty much across the board. Worshiping masculine stereotypes (like our societies tend to do) is a massive problem simply because it doesn't allow for any other kind of manhood/"masculinity" other than the ones viewed as traditional. Instead of being "not interested" dudes should examine why that is in the first place, and perhaps view us as people rather than a caricature of stereotypes.

As for femme bottoms? On the surface theres nothing wrong with it. When 90% of femme men are presented as submissive however? Thats a problem. We are not inherently submissive or weaker (as if being submissive makes one weak, [it doesnt] yet another thing furries dont seem to understand) because we exhibit feminine traits. Its absurd. It takes a cursory glance at almost any fanbase on earth and you find the same problem. Feminine characters male or female are stereotyped in a certain way to satisfy the idea that being traditionally masculine is superior/inherently dominant.

Im a fairly androgynous man with hair down to my lower back whose not afraid to do shit like wear floral patterns, flowing clothing, makeup, etc. I get crap every day of my life for it. The best part? I heavily prefer to top. But you know; I have long hair and Im a thin person so according to the gaysTM thats not true.

I sometimes do notice what you said- especially guys who only date more masculine men than themselves. Otherwise though, it may just be wanting someone more similar.

Honestly I think if people were more polite about rejecting others (and others weren't forceful about trying to get dates/laid), it wouldn't be so bad. There will always be people considered more or less attractive- sometimes not even based on any of the stuff you mentioned. Facial structure rarely gets talked about, yet is a huge factor in attractiveness- BDD is too common among gay males and the desire for cosmetic surgeries etc. That can't even be faked or changed easily.

Agreed on the fem bottom thing though- though I'm biased because I go for femboy and twink tops. >.> So do other guys I know tbh. Idk where you live but I have met enough guys into it (or who just loved bottoming and didn't get picky about whose dick they took lol).

People in general but especially gay men are fond of "romance cloning" where the kinds of people they date look/act/are into almost the exact same things as they are. Its normal, but that doesn't make it healthy or open minded. If someone says they arent attracted to me because Im not muscular, or because Im not masculine enough, my response is "Cool. Im not attracted to you because your personality is mediocre." Gay bears and furries either oversexualize people like me to hell, demean us, or reduce us to sex objects in generality. Its gross and a major reason I dont interact extensively with either subculture (even though I am often attracted to men that could be described as "bears") because its poison.

Dating is exclusionary by nature though. If someone knows they won't be happy with someone different than themselves, it's best to let them be with their unrealistic expectations... their loss, they'll end up alone. Maybe they'll be able to open up eventually. But I do think aesthetics are important for dating too.

LOL no, straight men are a lot worse. Something like 90% of my friends are queer or straight women. I have an incredibly basic standard, and yet men fail to meet it the vast majority of the time.
