Did Sylvannas really need to be basically a baby killer?

My backlog of books is large enough without adding warcraft books to the pile
Edit: lets not forget Sylvanus is more mary sue and cringy than Thrall now, having died and came back 2 or 3 times now, have plot armor, and have her totaly predictable behavior catch others by surprise.
