i used to think i could make a living doing art, but its just not sustainable. im literally unable/unwilling to subject myself further to retail and sometimes it feels like i'll just starve. it would be preferable to slaving under capitalism but its tough to feel like that when youre actually, physically, hungry. My art is good. im constantly proud of it and constantly seeing improvement and feeling even better about it all the time. i experiment and refine my methods! i dont think im unable to sustain myself for lack of talent or work ethic.
i think late stage capitalism is wrapping up. i think ppl dont have as much disposable income, and if they do? its like, there's always ALWAYS a charity or fundraiser to be bumped. someone who needs surgery. a town that's burned down. i resent the state of this country for pushing ppl to this. and it makes sense that buying Art of all things, doesnt rank that high on the list of human needs. but i also can't deny that i have a need to make stupid drawings. ive never been happier, even in times that ive been hungry, or homeless.
i dunno i dont really have a reason to write this. im just venting and feeling sorry for myself. it just feels like there is no place for ppl like me in this world!!! i havent gotten any response to my commission post on twitter so i came to post here?? and this journal, with zero responses is already here. making sure i remember that posting art on This Site, and possibly all sites, is utterly useless.
