Fuck this life.

When life gives you lemons, burn life's house down. Preferrably with life still inside.
Gotta love how just when you think things are calming down, life finds a giant fucking curveball to throw right in your face.
For past few months, my dad's been having some respiratory issues, and his stubborn ass refused to listen to our advices to go see the doctor, until the situation got progressively worse. So, just recently he got the results and while it's not lung cancer, it's something just as bad.
He was diagnosed with pulmonary emphysema.
According to what I read about it, there is no medication that can remove it permanently, only soothe the symptoms; the only permanent solution is to surgically remove the damaged lung tissue (only doable in early stages). The problem?
My dad's got some serious problems with his heart (he had a pacemaker installed last year), and he would not survive the surgery.
With proper medications, we can expect him to live for another 5 years *at best*. And knowing our luck and how some of our past family members wound up when they were diagnosed with some terminal disease....I am unsure what to do or say anymore.
I guess I can just, make peace with the fact and be prepared for the worst?

What pissed me off is that for -years- doctors kept telling him his lungs are clean as a whistle despite his heavy smoking and other health issues, and now all of a sudden they're like "oh looks like your lungs are literally falling apart, sir, oopsie!"
Just make sure to be with him with the time he's got left. My condolences. :(
If someone asks or tells you to move on, thake his or her hand and say "My choice."
I don't know what to say other than I am sorry.
All I can suggest is that you enjoy the time you have left; make his quality of life as good as you can.
I'm... honestly not sure what else to say. That has to be devastating...
But maybe it's for the best. Who really wants to be alive right now anyway? The world is a miserable place with new frustrations and horrors awaiting you every day.
