I literally had a map of all the trees in the game, and slathered every one with honey. One had a munchlax for me.

There's some sort of formula that has to do with your trainer ID as well as a second ID number hidden from you. I found a website that can determine 2 of the 4 trees per cartridge that have a 1% chance of a munchlax showing. A week later still no Munchlax. I'm gonna end up just getting it, and a Cyndaquil via the Global trade Station.

If you need something, let me know, I can breed you just about every non-legendary Pokemon. Johto starters included.
