HC SVNT DRACONES 2nd edition kickstarter Update
7 years ago
Hey everyone.
So, the Kickstarter is going quite well! It just broke $30,000, which not only pushes it a good deal past twice the minimum funding, but also unlocked the creation of a deck of armor and weapon cards, which I personally am quite excited about! However, there is more to be reached! For example, at $33,000 we will get a new intro-contract! And $40,000 will finance the creation of a community contract portal, opening the doors for user-created content for the game! So, if you are interested, please consider backing and help us reach these goals. The game had 4 successful kickstarters already, two for 1st edition rulebooks and 2 for the game's very own line of miniatures, so the risk (I think) is minimal.
Now, I realize that some of you might not know what this HC SVNT DRACONES thing is I keep raving about.
Well, HC SVNT DACONES is a post-human sci-fi tabletop role play game, created by Pierce Fraser. It is set in our solar system in the fairly far future (exact number is not know). It has been 700 years since humanity annihilated itself. However, they left behind the Vectors, a race of anthropomorphic animals, the triumph of genetic-engineering and bio-construction. Sol is a very different place now. Earth, while having recovered from the nuclear fire that destroyed humankind, is home to a new blight, the Ruby Spire. A strange, blood-like crystalline substance that covers half the planet and reaches up, almost touching a similar spire growing from the Moon. Mars, home world of the Vector race, has been terraformed. So has Venus and the Jovian moon Ganymede. Almost every major body in the system has some kind of outpost. Space stations dot the major shipping and travel lanes. 3D printing is commonplace and make every conceivable item easily available. Frontiers and boundaries and pushed and expanded every day. Living tissue itself is the building block for some of the most spectacular marvels ever created. And even reality might be rendered mutable thanks to the rise of transcendent technologies.
But not everything is as bright as it seems. The great corporations that control everything, while not exactly malevolent, each have their own agendas. Strange creatures lurk in the dark, from pale, lizard-like humanoids to the crystalline horrors known as Whispers. And knows what dangers really await when breaking down the barriers between dimensions... what might already have been unleashed.
As you can probably guess, I love this game. The setting is amazing and it offers such a breadth of possibilities for gameplay. Corporate espionage on Mars? Check. Space-faring adventures? Definitely possible. Want to take part in the latest athletic craze on Venus? Sure! Harsh survival on the cold planes of Ganymede? Oh yeah!
You get what I mean. HC SVNT DRACONES offers nearly anything one could ask from a sci-fi setting. And the character options are amazing too! From your regular anthro characters to taurs, micros, nagas and pure animal bodies. There even is a machine race, for those who would like to explore a more robotic style.
