hey guys
Last tuesday was not only my birthday, but also the day I was let go from my job.
I was sick with an upper respiratory infection the entire week before last, and even though I called in daily and had doctors notes, my former job's security guards never recorded any of the calls (they're the ones who are in charge of that) even though I spoke to one every day, and I knew exactly who I was speaking to every time. I have the logs in my phone, from my end. I did attempt to go to work thursday of the week I was sick, and HR sent me home bc I was still not feeling well. I clarified with him that I did indeed have doctors notes, and he told me to bring them in when I returned.
Well I returned last tuesday. Well, tried to. I had my notes in hand, and they were kind of weird?? about the whole thing? First I was told "oh let me call A (shortening his name, but he is one of the higher up managers) and see if he wants to speak to you. I said okay. Then they turned around and said I could clock in and go to work, never mind about A. I was like ??? okay? are you sure? and they said yes.
So I try to clock in.
My number was deleted from the system.
"Oh no," they said, "its just your fingerprint! it must be reading wrong."
"No." I said "That says invalid badge. Not some fingerprint read error. Invalid badge means the number is gone."
"Oh don't worry about it you can go to work we'll just write up a time card for you! Go put your stuff in your locker then go downstairs."
So I go to my locker.
Guys, they cut my lock off and gave my locker to someone else. Thank god I never kept anything in my locker beyond my shift.
I was pissed, but I told the guard and said I needed to leave my stuff with him bc of the locker situation. I made an attempt to work. I got angrier, and angrier, and angrier as time passed.
So I asked to speak to HR, who I'll call M, on my first break, at around 8AM. They said sure, he's in!
I normally was on pretty good terms with M. I thought things were fine.
Well the bullshit about the call logs came up, so I showed him my phone. I showed him every single call I made. I asked him if he remembered the talk we had on thursday before he let me go home. I could tell he was done with the subject before it even started. "it doesn't match up with our logs though." he said. I looked at him, so confused.
So they took every single day I was out as a no-call, no-show. Their attendance policy (a point system which is such a joke.) deems two no-calls, no-shows as cause instant termination.
So I was fired on my birthday. They still tried to get me to work. I don't even know if I'll be paid for that day. I left at noon.
I do have another job lined up, however I am in dire straights until I get my first paycheck which most likely wont be until the 2nd week in october. My student loan payment came out, and it literally wiped my bank account clean. I was behind on a payment as it was, and I did call the company I deal w/ for loans but all they could do was put a forbearance on my future payments. So I'm now -$600 from that, due to the payment amount, my other bills and overdrafts. It is entirely my fault for being behind anyway, I won't deny that.
Please understand I am working on commissions. I know so many of you have been waiting for SO long and it is entirely unreasonable to keep you all waiting. I am in need of help. I'm honestly at the point I'm just trying to pay my phone bill today and my car insurance by the end of the week.
I will need to keep my commissions open. I hate to do that, as I like to clean my plate of what I have first, but I'm at a loss for what to do. I am working on my backlog now, but I need to make at least a little bit this week and next to get me by. I know I ask of it a lot, but I would love it if you guys could bear with me for a little longer. ;;
