Yup, if you can tell from the journal title, I went to see VENOM.
It's not your typical superhero movie but at the same time, I wish it was MORE.
I mean, to me, VENOM more focused on being a comedy than an action movie and I can't say that I'm surprised. I mean, yes, Eddie Brock is freaked out at the notion of having an alien symbiote inside of him and at the same time, is cracking jokes about it, calling VENOM a parasite, knowing full well that upsets him.
I mean, I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it, I did, but at the same time, it could've been greater. Maybe I am expecting too much from it? I dunno. A co-worker said it could've been rated R like Dead Pool and it would've been great.
But that's just me. For those who saw it, what're your thoughts on it?

I felt the exact same way. I enjoyed watching it, they nailed the personality of Eddy and Venom perfectly, and they flawlessly got the voice right. They did take a lot from the comics too which was nice, but it was obvious it was a AU styled movie, or a "what if" situation where Spiderman doesnt exist. I enjoyed all the eastereggs they added, and all the lore they got right, but it still somehow felt... empty. Like it needed more to it. The character development was fine, the plot was decent, I think it may have been the build up to the final confrontation that wasnt good enough. Regardless I still certainly recommend going to see it.

and PS: The 4th wall break with Stan Lee was amazing. He had *ZERO* connection to the creation of Venom, so the reaction was priceless

Oh really? Even though he's like the godfather of the MCU?

Same I love the Venom film it was fun as hell. But I would like more. Maybe sony will have it rated R on the DVD release? Who knows but the sequel needs to push that a bit more.

Well, maybe Sony will learn from this and make the sequel rated "R" as I'm hoping Carnage will be a part of it. X3
