Ph.D. and life updates

Like all the years of studies were not enough. :/
After a set of pretty stressful exams/interviews/paperwork, I became a Ph.D. student. I just had to do something with my life, I was not ready to move away from the city I live in and I need some time to figure out what I want to do next, so continuing studies seemed like a good idea.
My dissertation sounds like "Creative coding and generative algorithms as a tool of interactive visual art creation." Basically, it's about using programming, math and physics to create some art.
It's been just a month but I already feel like packing my backpack and running away somewhere to the mountains where no one can find me. Me being an asocial idiot doesn't help with all the new responsibilities with the students. I have to organize them, give some tasks, even teach. I hope I'll get better at this, but right now I feel just like the Radiohead's Creep. Wish me luck! :C

I like to look at the social aspect of this in a way that those teaching me are or were equally scared of it as me rn and they are not scared now. The faster I drop my fears of socialization, the sooner I can start sharing my knowledge. Also focusing on the topics I'm interested in helps me overcome the barriers of talking to peeps.
Oh yes, I can definitely relate to this. My additional problem is that I'm a foreigner in this country and I need Visa to stay here. Being a student is the simplest way to get it for me, so it's another advantage. I have a simple plan of things I want to achieve in my lifetime, but having a great career is not something I'm going for. I want to move to another city with a nice pilot school (becoming a pilot, that's one of the dreams), but I need time to collect all the money, have some stability and such. So meanwhile being a Ph.D. student seemed like a nice idea.

I never achieved a high degree as you, so I have no experience in this area. But take a little time for yourself and put the advantages and disadvantages on a balance and see which decision is good for you. Or discuss with peoples who have experience in this. I'm not familiar in details with your situation and I believe you can do it ! , but if you feel that something is not for you then don't be afraid to change your plans.
PS.: generative algorithms ... you learning Processing ? :)
Processing! Yes! That's a part of what I'm doing :D Are you working with it too? It's fun! I love creating different sketches with it.
And for the original topic: Well in the past years, I learnt to do my work "efficiently", but the social side is still a problem for me too ! (I answered first from a different viewpoint) My only advice is the same : Give time to yourself ! Go hiking, or do what you really like and charge up your batteries ! You are the only one who can change the way you think about yourself. You are a valuable people in that team, just trust in yourself :) !
