The only real way to survive in ANY fandom or community is to find a small close knit group of friends you can enjoy and mostly just tune out the rest. The more someone gets into EVERYTHING the more drama will rear its head to the point of making anyone want to leave. Small friend groups are really the best choice.

Exactly. Every community and fandom is toxic if you go searching for it or let it find you. Avoid it and find parts of the fandom/community that you want to be a part of. Leaving the whole community for a part of it is ridiculous, but everyone does it. If that makes them happy, okay but the world is full of toxicity so you're not going to get anywhere by "leaving the community".

The problem with furries is you cant trust anyone. Anyone I have ever considered a friend has tossed me in front of the bus the first chance they get if it means they get something from it.

Kothorix, I understand your frustration, but believe me when I say that it's not fair to write off the entire furry fandom over the actions of a few people and that leaving it altogether won't make the problem go away. What you need to do is make it known that the people who make the community look bad shouldn't be tolerated. Distancing yourself from the furry fandom is the worst thing you can do, as you're only letting them win at that point.

The sort of defeatist attitude you're displaying here is exactly what has enabled so many SJWs to hijack the fandom in the first place. The fact that not enough people are willing to hold others in the fandom accountable for their misdeeds has only let the worst behavior continue to thrive and ruin the community's reputation. Intolerance, when left alone, is only going to breed further if left unchecked.

People like me still support the furry community because there are still civil people within it who don't deserve the bad press, and you've always been one of those exceptional people who has helped give other furries hope when it looked like no one else was willing to speak up. If you want things to get better, be the difference you want to see. Raise the fandom's social standards so we don't attract the destructive behavior you mention in the first place. Ultimately, I can't tell you what to do, as it's solely your decision to make whether you stay in the fandom or not, but I firmly believe that abandoning your passion simply because you've allowed a few bad people ruin it for you is not a winning attitude to have.

I don't agree with everything in your video, but I agree with a solid chunk of it. This fandom, particularly furry Twitter, can be absolutely terrifying.

The problem is popufurs who use twitter as a tool to bully others because there are no rules against it. FA has rules that don't allow harassment. FA's definition of "harassment" is messed up because every fur here seems to play that card if they don't get their wish, but those same people will turn to twitter to bitch and moan and harass that person to the point the person they are slandering is receiving death threats.

I know several popufurs that do this. One of them is using this video to his advantage by trying to say hes a victim when in fact he is part of the problem.

The video definitely made me think long and hard about it, and I have to agree. I'm going to be leaving the furry community and not looking back. While there are good people in it (as applies to most fandoms), this fandom just has too many of them.

I probably didn't experience anything direct here because when I joined the site I was an adult already, shared this account with my boyfriend and been always pretty firm on who I am and what I'm not okay with. Still, a few creepy comments happened anyway... I don't think I've ever been a promising potential target because of all that. But ye, I witnessed certain things... despite not exploring the community for that long.
Though I recall facing most of the other issues mentioned in the vid a few years back, ofc in their versions of the time.

I realised I don't belong with furries within the first 2 years of using FA and I'm openly stating I'm not a furry since, and still re-confirming myself against being one. On FA, I'm just keeping it to my own gallery and audience. Though I admit I've been trying to understand what Furries actually are for years, and I agree with your vid's last statement... it's NOT simply "fans of anthro animals", though I had that conclusion from different clues, and not necessarily sex-related.
I'm all for returing anthro animals back to the general human culture and I'm against shoving all anthro animals into one, young subculture (regardless if said suculture has issues or not), it's just illogical to do so to a phenomenon as old as history. Furries are a specific community and they have always been, and it's by no means limited to simply enjoying anthors... I kept saying that long before, and I am keeing to say that now. The mere fact you or I aren't furries only confirms that nobody can make anyone be a furry regardless how much of a common interest you share with them...
