Futurism: Cooktops
A passing thought on the technology of my Tarnation comic, which is set over 100 years in the future:
I had recently been considering what a cooktop would be like in the comic, likely millimeters thick and using "pixels" of heat so you can have full flexibility of pan size and arrangement of pans... but thanks to all the Instant Pot sales going on today, I realized that stovetops will actually be obsolete by then, as heating elements will eventually just be built into all pots and pans, possibly with that "pixel" technology for different heat levels within the skillet, especially once wireless energy and long-life batteries make power cords obsolete. This will allow cooking on any surface. We already have electric skillets and electric griddles today, too. Might still need a range hood, though I could see air purifiers being built into lids at that point too.
I don't see ovens going obsolete, though.
Anybody know of a good resource of future predictions? I want to avoid missing obvious things in the comic. I've already shown a cooktop in Kenny's cabin/apartment, not anticipating this realisation.

FA+

Could also go retro and have a grill/oven set up. Uses microwave-fusion flames to sear and cook the food in seconds.
But one thing to consider. Cooking style and requirements would be different between herbivores and carnivores. Kenny and Death would have to have some sort of hybrid, or have separate cooking pots. I can see issues if Kenny used a herbivore pan to cook his steak and now Death gets a "taste" of the meat in her stir fried vegetables.
Now figure out how to cater to people who like to cook with gas.
Flame cooking, especially for meat is a big flavor thing, and will never go away completely.
