Calling out FA's bullshit.
I want to draw some attention to the inconsistency of FA's administration when dealing with bans.
A good friend of mine,
VanityVixen has had her account permabanned for about a week now and has been trying to appeal with the FA staff through their appeals email address. They banned her just before Black Friday/Cyber Monday began, and this caused her, as both a buyer and a seller as she takes commissions, to miss potentially one of the most lucrative times of year to offer little sales and grab some nice art cheaper.
It took days for them to finally reply to her, and after giving her a bit of a run-around, they told her that she was identified as another banned person and so she too was banned. She was confused and asked for more details, because that was all they told her. A day later they finally told her the person (omitting the name to not call anyone out, per FA rules) and it turns out this was someone who Vanity had given one of her characters to years ago in exchange for some art. She still has Discord logs of the conversation and the trade, and after providing those details to the FA appeals email, she was told that while she is not the person in question, she would remain banned because she had given that person an account without going through the FA staff to do it (the character had it's own account, and she figured it would just be easier to give them the whole account.)
This was years ago, and she has had her FA account for over 6 years now with no issues, and is one of the nicest people I know, but because she's apparently broken a minor rule in the TOS they won't even consider unbanning her, and she can't even make a new account as they'd ban that too.
They made a mistake and banned her in the first place, and now after being shown they've made a mistake they are doubling down on a technicality to push her out of the community because of their own mistake. This is absolute bullshit and I intend to send an email every day to their appeals account linking back to this journal with "You need to address this problem" until they do something reasonable.
I don't plan to stand idly by as someone wrongs a good friend for a minor issue. I never knew of this rule, I doubt most people do, no one actually reads full TOS and you should issue warnings and investigate things before just smacking someone in the face with a banhammer. This website only exists because of it's users, and you don't just shit on your users and expect no one to raise a fuss about it.
Edit: Already received a very generic reply from FA's appeals email.
"I cannot discuss issues involving another user with you. Please do not contact this email unless you need assistance with an issue of your own."
So, I've sent the following reply, and will continue to send a daily email.
"You don't need to discuss it, you just need to make it right. I don't expect you to talk to me about it at all.
Have a great day."
Edit 2: They have lifted her ban finally. Leaving the journal up to keep people aware of the issue but it has finally been resolved.
