$12 patreon for almost the entire year and now I realize there's a second Jay Naylor account dedicated to SFW content and, most importantly, the original life comics that would keep me up all night reading it.

Funny, I also heard about Subscribestar only yesterday, on YouTuber Appabend's video entitled "The Shimoneta Dystopia is Real" (link).

It wasn't the central theme of the video, but he mentioned at the end that he set up an account there in response to a NSFW SFM animator being kicked off Patreon.

Hmm, yeah I heard about Subscribestar the other day in reference to the banning of a couple of people on YouTube. Not to mention some whispers about a ban on adult content on Patreon as well. In any event it's good that there is at least more options for crowd funded content coming online.

Patreon is only picky about type, for now. I mean, things can change, but usually when someone gets their account suspended because of "porn" it was because they had adult material set as publicly viewable instead of patrons only, or they drew lolicon or something. I've never seen it be just because of adult only material.

Well fair enough, I hadn't personally following the situation that close. But even so, there's no reason to believe that Patrion is immune to the same moral panics and idiotic management that's killing off Tumblr. Not to mention we've already seen at least one high profile incident of Patrion killing off a large user's account on the orders of their payment processors even though that user wasn't violation any of Patrion's TOS.

Right. Well, Tumblr is a different case. We think it's "stupid" because if we owned Tumblr, we'd want to keep as many users as possible to make it more profitable. Verizon is cleaning it as quickly as possible, no matter who else gets hurt, because they want to sell it, later. I've heard they were going to this in about six months, but they pushed it up to now because of the whole App Store removal and illegal content kerfluffle. So, they're not going to invest heaps of money in a staff of human moderators.

I'm looking through the site and they don't outright mention what content is allowed and not allowed. Just anything that does not break the law (international and state).

I feel they should straight mention if they have adult artists, adult entertainers, free speech advocates, reporters, and so on in mind. Something similar to how Telegram promotes itself.
I welcome alternatives but clones of the already broken system arent useful.

Is SubscribeStar a service you can attest to looking out to not only yourself but other content creators as well?

There is not a lot of information on the company nor the people running it beside it being Russian made and relocated to the states not too long ago.

Also do you believe it will be more financially beneficial and convenient to use SubscribeStar over Patreon (i.e. less of a service fee)?

If you browse the people already there, you see content creators already marked with an 18+ badge on their icons, which is set up when you establish an account. When I established a creator account, I had this flag set and had my account clearly indicate what I did, and it was approved within the day.

My intention isn't to weight what is better, or long term reliable. My intention was to create a backup, a hedge to Patreon, so I don't have my eggs all in once basket in case policies change or something else.

I think the best way is to push for the change of the international and national laws. Fuck censorship in all forms.

I really love your art. I was about ast a dumb about your commissions til I read through again found out you don’t do commissions again. I had saved up for a couple of pictures. But waaaay way too late for that now lol. Keep up with the great work tho in general.
