I do draw some neckwear on the segmentata. magnus has one behind his gorget. as does Virinia. Magnus's armor does not have an "arming jacket system. His is built like standard Lorica, but with later changes, closer to Byzantine styles. and the mail is a huge Hauberk over a thick , wide collar shirt, about night shirt length.

Lorica is a lot easier to wear, yeah. The reenactment I've done was all post-Marian though, so nothing like the Byzantine for me. I do miss it all, even if I do complain...

some parts I did not know the name of. could have gone more into his jacket, and did not explain what a Gambison was. now, how this equates to the medieval wolves you've been drawing I suspect they would want a light covering between their fur and the armor layers and of course, only the Strongest of the wolves would be able to wear full plate in battle, and like this man pointed out, wearing full armor makes you a target for Ransoming back to your family.
at the end of the age of armor, you can blame the Dratted Englishmen and the huge clothyard arrows with the Bodkin points that could hole the shining plate armors. They changed warfare in a huge way, but finally bested the armored knight. Now we only grant knighthoods for exceptional Behavior. Could anyone imagine Sir Elton in armor?

the subject of "Blaine Gloriosus" is probably the beefiest of Lupines, and weilds a 14 lb morningstar one handed, as well as that barn door of a Scutum. He's one of the strongest character in the book, with the equally beefy barbarian chief, a very close second. Blaine get the nod due to his Nord heritage.

Notice that Magnus is not nearly as heavily armored, and he wants to preserve his mobility and dexterity.

I would expect the Lupines to be early adopters of the Pike, and the firearm, as their muzzle makes classic archery difficult, (They would have to shoot with the bow held flat, rather than vertically.

Well I see D&D parties using halfplate, and chainmail, mostly. Plate armor needs a higher strength that most people have to wear, in D&D If you have seen the steyr armories collection of "field Plate" it's constructed different, but was made for line troops (peasants) so it's fire blackened and hammer rough, but it is able to be put on my one person. I would imagine that as being closer to the "half plate" of D&D lore.

I tend to prefer my characters wear leather, but they tend to be Dex builds. Plus you can wear leather around town without arousing too much suspicion.
