Moosey Plans for 2019 (also FC & BLFC)
Hey, it's another new year, filled with the same sort of shit! ...Or is it? I'm considering just getting weird with it this year, and leaning more heavily into my kinks and raunchiness in the art I put out. It seems every year we loose more and more Internet ground to the safe, sanitized, kid-friendly, general-audience mentality. The implosion of Tumblr porn is sending out ripples, and I expect other corporate-backed platforms (lookin' at you, Twitter) to follow suit sooner rather than later. If we won't fight for our filth, who will?
Also, I've been unemployed for a while now, and it's getting old. I've had my feelers out in more traditional ways to no avail, so I may as well put one out here. Soooo if anyone's looking for a full-stack node/js/general web developer sort of guy in the San Jose/Silicon Valley area, drop me a private message or something!
So yeah, Further Confusion is just a couple weeks away, and I'll be there. As usual, I'll be lurking around public tables (probably the ones on the lower floor of the convention hall annex between the two hotels), and if I'm not busy I'd be happy to doodle porn in sketchbooks.
BLFC is a few months out, and I'll be there too, although I haven't had any luck in that hotel room-block lottery they have going this year. Other BLFC-goers, how has your experience been with that system? From what little anecdotal evidence I've seen, it seems like not a lot of people have gotten "in" yet. I'm not sure if this is better or worse than the first-come-first-serve system they've had in the past.. This system seems a little fairer, but I worry that it may be open to abuse. Are people getting as many friends as they can to all go in on the lottery in hopes of getting better rooms? Is there going to be an organized conglomerate of con-room scalpers or something? Though given that the GSR only has 2000 rooms (and not all of them are given to the con block, probably not by a long shot) , and the con has about 6000 attendees, the scarcity of rooms does seem like a big problem with no easy solution.

FA+

I'll be sure to swing by your dealer table, if you got one!
I got a room in the second round for BLFC, and it was just me trying for myself. Worked out better than last year where I started registering for a room the minute the block opened, and then by the time I got to entering my CC info it was like "lol no rooms left".
The discount doesn't seem to be too huge compared to what I paid last year at non-block rates so if you can swing it maybe just reserve a regular room and cancel that reservation if you get lucky on round 3? Or go baller with one of those crazy penthouse suites and pray you win it back at the poker tables.
