.... my return was such a weird phenomenon that the whole site crashed!!! XD
this reminds me, though, I should really diversify my presence on other furry sites, right?
I opened a twitter account as well, is that a good way to keep in touch with the fandom?

The timeline system makes it impossible to keep up with commission openings if you ever follow more than ten accounts, and if people want to watch you for your art then flooding them with updates of how your dog is having a good poop and dashing in your top hundred favourite memes will turn them away. It's impossible to stay up to date on artwork and open commission slots if they are absolutely buried in posts that have nothing to do with that. And then comes stuff like curiouscat where artists enjoy answering dozens of questiosn regarding their characters at a time to ensure their actual artwork and commission openings appear only after five minutes of continuous scrolling down.
You may gain more followers on twitter than on FA, but that is purely because of the broader userbase installment. It is not reflective of how many people a) keep up with your content b) are actually interested in your content and c) want to (or even can) commission you.
Twitter is a great way for getting in contact with your fans outside of commissions and art. For art and commissions, it is an incredibly inconvenient platform.
I honestly wouldnt be super interested to make it a commission platform (i used to love tumblr, but now it's not nsfw friendly -_-), just a way to keep up with current trends and what the fandom is up to. I'm a very private person so i wouldnt post much aside from the art anyway XD
what are FA like sites you reccomend?
Now, don't even get me started on how every artist feels the need to have their own private Discord server to announce their commission openings. And people are pissed that Epic Games is forcing them to install a new games launcher besides Steam? X'D
That said, finding sites that are like FA that can actually compete with FA in terms of userbase installment and consistency of features is incredibly difficult, and that's probably the reason why so many artists want to reach out and try new platforms to connect with their fans and customers. Personally I'm content with FA despite its many shortcomings. Weasyl seems to be a dependable platform that's endured the ups and downs of 'abandon FA' 'return to FA' quite well.
Wait, a private discord to announce when theyre open for commissions?? "Gather round, my liege, i shall now declare the commission season open!!"? XD
tbh, i have no real reason to stray from FA aside the fact that it's frequently flooded and down (at leaast, in the 2 on-and-off years i was on this site, iexperienced at least.. 5 down times?). Maybe it's not even that often in the grand scheme of things, but it is worring that if FA were to shut down suddenly, people would have no way to reach me on any other platform.
It's probably best if i keep my main as FA and other sites as satellites of sorts ^^ (if i ever find the patience to do so, at least XD)
cheers mate, i appreciate you taking the time to answer me! :)
i didnt know you had a twitter either :o
