more and more tests before surgery...
just a quickish update.
monday i'm going in for a CAT scan and a bone scan. they referred to this as "staging" testing.
because the MRI found a second tumor near the first and a suspicious lymph node, i suspect the doctors are considering changing my initial diagnosis from T2N0 (stage 2) to...something else.
won't know more for a bit, but these tests are now required before they get me in for surgery. and surgery may also include abdominal surgery to remove the ovaries in addition to the removal of the cancer itself.
whew.... what a time, yall.
thank you to everyone who helped me with travel funds. it takes a huge stress off my shoulders to know i don't have to fret about lyft and trains and copays and all that stuff. you legit have no idea how much of a relief it is. i love yall. i hope i can repay your kindness someday <3
hey hey ho ho 2019 cancer fight lets go

Bunners
Or I will kick your butt I swear.
Love you too tho dweeb.
the abdominal'll be because these tumors feed on estrogen/progesterone, which are generated there. it'd be basically to protect me from any more tumors developing if there's evidence it's tried to leave the region it developed in.
And keep on fighting! I'm rooting for you to come out on top!
Kind of curious about the medical benefits of the oophorectomy in relation to how it will help you post ipso facto with your transition.
Ive been carrying around a little memory foam orb sloth plush in my bag thats meant for like teen girls cuz he smells like bubblegum. I clutch it and try to clear my mind and focus on the fabric its covered in etc when they go in... but sometimes they dont tell me til its. Way too late for me to begin to steel myself. And then i wind up fighting to keep from fainting. BRAINS RULE...
I mean, apart from the fact that id no longer be producing estrogen which feeds the cancer, it'd prevent what happens to some trans men way down the line where your organs basically just start cramping painfully as like a HEY WE ARE STILL HERE ARE YOU GONNA USE US SOMEDAY thing. Removal would also prevent any chance of ovarian cancer provided they also yoink the tubes but... i mean like. It wasnt ever a -priority- in my transition to remove ovaries, but i sure as hell aint gonna protest if they tell me its gotta happen.
And my personal trick is to 1) warn the nurses I have a fear of needles and to tell me to look away so I don't see it, and 2) start quoting poetry from rote memorization as a distraction while the needle is in. Only works for when the needle goes in or out. whenever I donate double red blood cells and am hooked up to a centrifuge, it's nowhere near as bad in the during part. Which, if you're doing chemo as part of your treatment, you'll probably be hooked up for an extended period of time for that as well.
But hey, as long as the plush purse sloth helps out, then who cares if it's for a different demographic? Got me curious to know if you'd take a pic of your pal next time your pricked.
Also, since they're already going to be in there, guess it wouldn't hurt to ask if they can remove the tubes as well. I imagine they're going to do it Laparoscopicly for everything except one incision to remove the organs. If that's the case, then it'll minimize the recovery time for you.
i can find a pic of my sloth, hold on...
