People say the furry fandom is toxic but honestly I think that’s the case with most online-based communities. :p

Uuurgh, I know those kind of people. Idiotic assholes. In Italy we call them "leoni da tastiera" (keyboard lions) because they bring out the worst hate and trolling and shaming online, protected by being anonymous. There are loads of people today who use good causes as an excuse to hate, probably to justify themselves.

Reminds of some "feminist" groups who only do hatemongering towards others, ruining the memory of the real feminist women, and men, who fought for EVERYONE's rights. The same groups who shame other women who try to change things for the better.

And don't worry, you are not the only one being afraid. Back in Italy I was always careful not to let is slip out, only came out to my highschool class mates after finishing it. Only felt really free after moving here to Denmark.

From what I've experienced of Danish welfare since I arrived, that doesn't seem realistic. My best friend here has light autism and since been diagnosed he has had access to special classes and teachers that helped him all throughout school.

I might have a biased experience though. Never had big health issues so never had the chance to have problems. That said that's the first time I hear of problems like that, so it could simply be someone who has been unfortunate. There is no perfect country in the world.

Yeah I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, just pointing out that one of the weeb shitbrigade gave me shade for my 'irrational fear,' called me something along the linesof a victim crybaby and then proceeded to cry victim about her progressive country's unfortunate treatment of her. Just look at her Twitter timeline highlighting all my tweets at her.

Doesn't make her wrong, but it definitely makes it hard to consider what she says as objective.

That said, the profile says she is 19. Considering that a sex-change operation requires the age of majority (for obvious reasons) and that one is screened thoroughly by therapists, it might just be she wasn't allowed to through with it yet. Preeeeetty sure you can't just go and get the operation like you'd get a ingrown nail cured x3

There is also a movie about it: 'The Danish Girl', with Eddie Redmayne ('The Theory of Everything', 'Jupiter Ascending', 'Fantastic Beasts'). Never watched it myself, but apparently is not too bad.
The story is only based on the real person though, apparently many records were destroyed by the Nazis first and allied bombings later (she had the operation in Germany). She did manage to have her legal status changed though and was issued a new passport (this in Denmark). And she was born not far from where I live now O.O

If I had the money and my roots weren't so deep I'd move to Scandanavia, I understand english is the second language in most Scandinavian countries so language barriers wouldn't be an issue. Plus there's the benefit of free college and healthcare. Aaaand Scandanavian boys are super cute~

Not really, Denmark's Jylland region is drearily empty XD Vejle itself (the city I mentioned) is only a few hundreds of years old, more interesting than the city I live in (which was funded as a commercial centre for the farmers of the area around 1790), but still not THAT interesting unfortunately x3
Having being born and growing up in a city like Genova, which has a history of several thousands years and was one of the most important economical and political cities on the plant for hundreds of years, with the biggest inhabited historical center in Europe... let's just say that most of Denmark, albeit lovely, is not super interesting x3

Oh you should! Scandinavia is a wonderful land to live in! They are incredibly welcoming.

Yeah, they all speak English here and Scandinavian languages aren't that hard to learn. The sounds are unusual and it take quite a while to learn the pronunciation, but the grammar is quite easy. Problem with everyone speaking English though is that it's easy to get lazy and not learn the language x3 Once you've learned them though they are really cool :3

University is not free for non EU/Scandinavian citizens though, not until you have gotten a residency permit. Healthcare is still free of course, like the rest of the EU, but if you are not a Union citizen or don't have a residency permit, they will ask you to pay the bill of course. The moment you have the residency permit though you have access to the full welfare. Only thing you can't do is vote in national elections. University here is still not as expensive as in the US though.
