I just saw Micheal Moore's video ,Sicko, which about health care and it completely opened my eyes about the country we live in. When my mom told me that she got the video at first i was reluctant to see it but I watched it with her anyway. so where to start?
the beginning shows a guy who had no healthcare sowing up his own leg because he had an accident and no healthcare.then they show a lady who has to move into her 20 old daughters home because she couldnt pay for both her husbands or hers medical bill. sounds pretty bad right? the list goes on and on. One guy had his two fingers cut off in an accident and has to choose which finger to put back on because one cost $6000 while the other costed $12000. insane right?
its not good at all.
the video shows more and more things going on with different ppl in the US. One lady whos baby had a fever of 104F was denied care and her baby died from cardiac aresst. she even had healthcare! while another woman's baby who hads the same exact problem was treated as soon as she got there. for free. no cost. also, doctors get a bonus if they denied the most ppl to save money
Later in the movie Moore went to different countries to see about their health care.
the most suprisings was france who not only had free healthcare, theres was a guy in a little cashier booth that gave you money so you could get home safely. doctors were given bonuses to accept and treat the most people. sounds like how its supposed to be right? not only do they have free health care and lil old cashiers who give you money so you could get home, France has free colleges, great daycares that cost one dollar an hour and free govt paid nannies that come help you with your kids, cook, do laundry and more.
im not exaggerating.
near the end Moore took several 911 clean up volunters who had messed up lungs and several other ppl who could not pay for healthcare in US to Cuba. Now you know that Cubans are commie bastards yadda yadda but guess what? the fuckin healthcare in Cuba is FREE!!! one 911 voluntier was paying 120 something dollars for an inhaler that costed 5 cents in Cuba. the voluntier was crying because she felt like her government let her down.and it did!the other ppl he brought were all treated and given medicine to for free.
(The US tried to arrest Moore for doing this)
its amazing how the American TV views countries as france and cuba as bad places. especially cuba.
i feel like i have lost faith in my country.
A friend of mines aunt is having 400 dollars takin out of her check for medical bills and shes having a hard time to pay for everything. its just fucked up
fuck it im thinking about movin to france
/end rant (sorry if you dont like politacl shit but these things are important )

This isn't an argument for the current system by any stretch, it's just something a lot of people who talk about health care reform don't seem to address. I'm not entirely sure what can be done about those things, but hey, I'm not in politics.
I myself am in Canada, where we do have a certain degree of free care, and I'm very glad for that. We do have certain problems because of that though. No system is going to be perfect unfortunately. We don't have free dental though. I could really use that.
Hopefully something will come of all this talk of health care reform though. It's unfortunate that it isn't moving more smoothly, but then, nothing ever does.
I'll have to settle for cereal.
I got health insurance, not a perfect one, but it's better than paying a hundred dollars of medication.
Everything is going to be better, not soon, but better.. ^^
Documentaries are not as objective as they might appear.
But yeah, we in the US are doomed, the way health care is taking so long to reform.
