People being complete annoying assholes for art or trying to get free art. And when not going their way, they act like children. Yeah, sadly I've met a few artists with a lot of stories like these.

A recent artist that I had commisioned my self, had told me some pretty annoying and sad things about a few commisions. One example was that he was hired in person, to make a professional art piece for the commissioner. The artist agreed and they set down a price. The Commissioner harassed and harassed and harassed the artist, telling him constantly rude things, berating over the smallest of things that the artist wasn't told to do or let alone know. The Commisioner was a complete asshole..but the icing on the cake was when the art piece was done, the Commsioner had stolen the art piece and blocked the artist online. Claiming the art that the artist made wasn't made by them, and they had made it themselves. He didn't get paid...He now makes people sign contracts to make sure they don't do that now.

Or the time where a friend over on DA told me about the time where she was being noted nearly every couple hours, every few days. The harasser was begging for free art and being completely rude and wasn't speaking English 100%. So the guy is just berating going "Art, thing wants my character, do this pose and stuff. When art is done?" type of stuff. The artist didn't agree to free art, so the guy constantly spammed her. She didn't block him straight away, because she wanted to collect allllllll those lovely notes that she got to report to DA about it. Funny enough the guy had been harassing not just her, but at least 3 other artists for free art, and spamming them. So the guy lost his account for harassment real quick. And on the side, he was also apparently trying to be sexual in comments of a few art pieces. Let alone that, the stuff he said to artists were disgusting..berating them, insulting and harassing the shit out of them if they said no.

I hate people sometimes...you should go see r/choosingbeggers or r/forexposure on Reddit. They screenshot a lot of bs artist gotta deal with, and its so stupid that people do this.

Yeah I've seen some of the stuff on twitter. It's just baffling sometimes how people act towards artists.

I got told via discord by the artist I'm talking about that they don't even want to do art of sharks anymore because they got harassed so much for free art. I dunno what people's issues are when they think insulting someone and shoving money in their face will get them art.

As much as I love art, let alone free art being offered. I'm not going to start berating and harassing over it, as the artist IS STILL A FUCKING PERSON!!!! And I just don't get into the mindset of people. It damn right disgusts me that this happens, and especially to the examples I've given, and about your poor friend not wanting to do sharks anymore. It's just downright disgusting.

I guess it goes that people will go nuts over free things, and even more nuts with paid things. Causing problems left and right, because they're the fucking chosen one in their little world. This just pisses me off with no end..And I'm not even an artist! I can't draw to save my life. So I doubt I'll ever know what its like to have assholes like these. But I do know its not a nice feeling of being spammed harassed over fucking free art.

It reminds me of in food service, always those people that would whine and want a free meal all the time when they're not even poor. It's just weird how people will become assholes over just a few bucks or so.

Oh god, tell me about it! I work at a cafe, and I've had the occasional stupid customer like: "Can I get a cappuccino without any milk or foam please" and get all pissy about it.

But I've had times where I've had old ladies, Few younger girls and guys, and the occasional Aussie bogan having a fricken fit like a child, over a few bucks of a coffee. Trying to bargain and get it for a lot cheaper..when were literally one of the cheapest in town that doesn't make it shit. Food services, Retail, Art, and more always got it rough with shit like this..its a pain!

I heard of a story where a lady sat outside and then whined about a slug being on the umbrella outside (not even in their food) and she wanted a free meal for it. Even her friend said she was just making stuff up lol.

If not doing a commission I simply wait for a artist to offer me free art.

that still backfired, a artist friend once got a little upset at me because I Wasnt asking him to draw stuff for me. cant imagine why.
he is the type of artist that completely freezes when doing paid work though. stresses him out.

Ah weird, reminds me of that really bad commissioner who freaked out once when an artist friend of his drew someone else's OC instead of drawing his own.

People can be pretty nasty yeah. People who ask for free art and throw a tantrum when they're told no bothers me though. I've met my fair share of them who think they're entitled to it or thinks that it is a necessary product, not a luxury.

I honestly wonder what they think will happen lol. "Ok, you've called me a bitch so I'll draw it for you"
