[The Isle] avoid Risen Realism's servers

i know several of my watchers and acquaintances here play the isle, so i thought i'd advise you all to avoid a fairly popular server that's been running for several years called Risen Realism.
not only are Risen Realism's mods ill-equipped for dealing with their userbase's rampant homophobia, they also have had a long-standing homophobic rule that exists solely for homophobia's sake.
for those who are unaware, Risen Realism runs a sandbox soft realism server, which effectively means that the server has more strict rules and players need to be prepared to emulate the behaviour of a carnivore or herbivore (rather than servers that will simply allow carnivores and herbivores to do as they please, which typically means people can slaughter indiscriminately) without being overbearingly strict. as they are a soft realism server, they have rules that dictate the groupings of specific animals for both realism and gameplay's sake: a pair of rexes is both realistic and fair, while a group of 4 rexes is an unstoppable killing force.
while this is normal and acceptable, what is completely unacceptable is the complete ban of same-sex pairings of dinosaurs.
almost all other soft realism servers have rules that you must have a male and female dinosaur in a group in order to nest. this is fine, as this will eventually be forced by the game's mechanics anyways (as far as i can tell). however, most servers state that you may form same-sex groups/pairs/etc in order to hunt/herd. risen realism differs in that same sex couples are outright banned no matter what, to the point where you will be asked to separate or change if you happen to be in a group of other players who all happened to be the same sex because of lack of communication - something that is extremely common.
not only is this rule bullshit, but many users have brought it up and the rule has been discussed with the admin team multiple times, with each time resulting in them leaving the ruling as it is.
their explanation for why dinosaurs can't be homosexual is pretty wild, too

this explanation assumes a lot of things we have absolutely no evidence for, the biggest of which being we cannot tell which animals were male and which are female. but i dont need to explain to you that animals can be gay and 35 million years of separation doesn't change that. not only that, but the second explanation of 'keeping apex population under control' holds absolutely no grounds on a server that locks apex animals and only allows two pairs of each apex species at any given time.
unfortunately i don't have any screenshots of their mods being completely incompetent at their jobs as it was all in-game, with global being extremely fast-paced and hard to get screens of, however i can cover the jist of the conversation for you. ultimately the two moderators that were in-game at the time allowed a homophobic conversation to persist for several minutes by either 1. being completely silent and allowing it to continue or 2. were so useless about it that it took them full-capslock nonsense screaming to distract everyone. no users involved in the homophobia were told to stop and none of them received any form of punishment for their behaviour that was clearly over the line. i want to put emphasis on the mod being fucking useless, as all they did was say 'lets change the conversation' four times before ultimately making a vaguely sexual threat in order to distract everyone.
i reported both admins to a higher-ranking admin but considering the server co-owner responded to me extremely politely asking for clarification on the server rule and subsequently stating that i'm leaving with this shit, i doubt itll get taken care of:

As you say too, there's no real way of telling gender if there's no good communication between the players.
Its a stupid rule, not just for the homophobia but for being a downright retarded rule to begin with since you can accidentally break it unless you make a constant effort to comply with it.

Let people play whatever the heck they want and mind your own business so long as they're not violating more important rules such as pack limits or grouping with a species you're not supposed to associate with etc.

I think it goes without saying that if animals form same sex pairs for various reasons today and that homosexuality has been observed in just about every species on Earth then I doubt (as you put it) eons of evolution would change that. But ya know, it's just like, our opinion man.
