if I make artwork like this https://www.furaffinity.net/view/27712372/
how much do you think I should charge for a commission? I've never had set prices for commissions before, so I don't know at what kind of level to price myself. if you're reading this, give me an honest opinion.
with all the being said, I will be taking commissions (for any of my flash projects as well as stand alone pics) if anyone's interested.
and for those who commissioned writing from me, I'm juuuuuust about done with the Skyrim V5.14 update and the other anonymous writing project

Usually lineart sells for around 15$, flat/rough colors raise the cost to 25$, basic shades 35$ and detailed shading adds to 45$.
I’d gladly pay between 30 and 40 for a picture like that If I were to commission you!
An honest number, say 130 for shaded. Maybe 60 for sketch.
I shared my findings, but it’s up to the artist to set their price
Looking at other artists and the prices they charge for art of that quality, it's all going in the 110-140 range (I get a lot of commissions)
I'm sorry if mybwords seem harsh, but I'm getting really tired of people treating art like a commodity.
Exactly 69
Could also include 10 for $420 deal
The market for someone of your quality (which is good quality not extreme quality) and the fact that it's a coloured shaded single character piece says you should sell for $40 if you want to match the market you're hitting into. As someone else had mentioned, this generally changes in stages of either 5$ or 10$. So your lines would $30 and your sketches would be $20. Although i personally think you should charge 15, 25, 35 (for colour) and 40 (for shade) to strike a good place. Each additional character should either be +50% or plus a set small value (5 or 10 dollars)
The problem with him saying for example to sell a sketch for $60 isn't that your art shouldn't be worth that, it's that any commissioner could go somewhere else and get the same quality or higher for lower cost.
If you want to set a good cost for your art depending on how much money you need, or want to work out how much you should be earning from commissions, you have to work out how long it takes you to draw your average commissions.
Assume that in a full time job a day's wage is around...i'm not sure as i'm English, $65?
Most people only need to work 3 or 4 days a week to earn enough to get by. Artists can (if they choose) work anywhere up to 7 days a week and have fully flexible hours.
That means on average you should be looking to earn around $260 in a week split over the days you choose. That's 6 commissions.
Therefore if you charge $50 per shaded commission (one character or 2 characters?) and you can finish each one in a single day, you're about hitting home.
Really what i'm trying to say is, this is entirely based on your situation and your client base, so it's individual to each person. I've actually helped quite a lot of artists with their price schemes, their work management and their marketting, and i've even helped a few become very successful. If you want to get in touch with me to get a price list and schedule that fits whatever you're looking to get, i don't charge, hit me up any time.
However if you just want a TLDR with some estimate prices i'd say. (all as full body)
