Like me, I am not a fan of long ass literature, unless they like super mega erotic lel but even then I would only read it in a certain mood, but however I think it because I'm no longer have the luxuries of time to afford any free reading atm= it just work, some gaming time then drawing,eat,poop then sleep. That's a point why long literature reading is a no no for me~

So in my opinion to counter audience like my problems, is to grab their attention with a good artwork, then follow up a short teaser or a comic or even animation perhaps if yew can afford it. Then you can take feedback and gather information on what you have accomplished so far and wishes/aim for the fanbase to grew larger and further with your story/character~

but then a genuine clean smexy art of the character wont hurt a lil bit there and there lol~ but thats just my opinion~

I can understand - I don't have the time for it either (especially because I read slow as sloth) but I plan to make the chapters quite segmented and rather short anyway owo it amounts to a huge amount of chapters maybe but I prefer that highly over pages of text xD

Well if you gonna continue with writing the story, a lil' hint then~
Try to deliver it as simple and straightforward as possible~
Be it cliché but interesting or just amusing but just short, impactful and simple~
Too long a story can be end up like the walking dead's franchise~

Like the kingdom hearts story, I first havent give it much of though but after looking back, kgh 1 and 2 works just so perfectly at it times because it was just simple and memorable~

Now with the other expansion and latest story development, it just messy and confusing and just plain aggravating~

Also, if yew have noticed, nowadays, stories or movies evolves around remakes in the good old days, my conclusion is that more and more creative writing is dead or just rare to attract new trending materials or even havefew supportive from new generations

Ein Artwork als Coverpage klingt schon mal nicht schlecht. In der Bildbeschreibung könnte dann der Klappentext mit einem Link zur eigentlichen Story/aktuellem Kapitel stehen. Auf die Art kannst du nochmals Interesse wecken.
Ich weiß nicht wie gut sich FurAffinity für längere, mehrere Kapitel übergreifende Stories eignet. Vielleicht ist es deshalb besser wenn die eigentlich Story auf einer externen Seite vorliegt und verlinkt wird. Das hätte den Vorteil, dass niemand von einer Textwall erschlagen wird oder die Textdatei vorher noch heruntergeladen werden muss, was bei jedem Dateiformat außer *.txt der Fall ist.
Wenn ich in die Buchhandlung/Bibliothek gehe und ein Buch/eine Buchreihe nicht kenne, dann kommt es auf das Cover und den Klappentext an, ob mein Interesse geweckt wird oder nicht.
Was mein Interesse weckt? Ich würde sagen runde Charaktere und eine authentische Welt in die man sich hineinversetzen kann.

Ja auf jeden Fall Cover-art hab ich mir gedacht owo aber denke nur für Cover, nicht für jede Chapter, außer ich commissione ab und an ein Bild, was ich dann nachträglich einfüge oder so owo
Ich wollte es auch eher auf Archive of our Own hochladen, das ist ne Fanfiction-Seite und ziemlich nice owo

Für jeden Kapitel ein Cover-Art zu machen ist vielleicht wirklich etwas viel. Aber du könntest die Kapitel in Bücher/Volumes zusammenfassen und dann für die Bücher Cover machen lassen.
Ich glaube, dass du es nicht nur versuchen, sondern auch schaffen wirst.

Das hab ich auch schon geplant owo Die zusammenhängenden übergreifenden Geschichten sind die "Grand Chronicles", darin sind die einzelnen großen Geschichten als "Chronicles" drin und jeder große zusammenhängende Abschnitt darin ist ein "Segment" und darin befinden sich dann die, relativ kurzen Kapitel (so 10 Seiten pro Kapitel maximal denk ich owo)
Und ja ich will auf jeden Fall für jedes Segment am Besten ein Artwork, was so die wichtigste Stelle zeigt owo

Something that always grabs my attention and indicates that a submission is a story is the format that e.g. draconicon uses, namely the chapter title with a list of content tags on aa coloured background. (sorry dont know how to link user pages)

Okay I will try to keep that in mind and make it presentable :3
