Projects, Life, and Upcoming Things
Hey so I've been not around a whole lot, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on things, so I thought it would be good to let people in on what's going on right now and things to maybe look forward to!
Commissions
I still have a pretty big one that hasn't been finished for a long time that I'm slowly chipping away at.
I'm getting close to finishing though so once that's done I'll finally feel freed up to do more events like themed commission deals and such, maybe some art giveaways. Just fun things for the people who watch me because I really appreciate your support.
Cyril's Masks
Part of a bigger webcomic project of interconnected people and stories all being told in short snippets focused on individuals.
I burned out for a few reasons back in the day but I'm finally coming back to that because it's a project that I've been in love with for quite a while and I want to share the stories and characters with the world. It's still a little on the back burner while I work on other things like the art I owe, but it hasn't been forgotten.
Most of it just needs some touching up, rearranging of panels, then finishing the last three chapters.
I'm making a game!
I've had a friend for like 13 years who's a programmer and we've tried to make stuff in the past but it's all been really ambitious and had other people involved. Now we're just working on it together with a little outside help here and there from other friends and it's going incredibly well.
Without getting too much into the details it's a cute little game and I've been writing for it anytime my wrist is too sore to draw.
My wrist and drawing
Such is life as an artist when you take poor care of your body.
When I can't draw I've been writing, though my wrist is starting to do a little better as I've been wearing a brace when I draw now among other things like icing it and doing stretches for it. The problems come and go but I've been using the computer mouse less because that's been something that really takes a toll.

FA+

AND
NUUUUH
Now I am jelly
Cause you are working in a videogame proyect :c
I wish I was over there so I could work on it too....
BUT AWESOME
I hope to get some details of it
I hope your wrist gets better
you need it
CAUSE
you must not stop doing awesome stuff
but take care of yourself BOI!
For now I'm just trying to prep everything so I can work on it easily
To be fair, I don't live anywhere near my programming friend, but we also know eachother well enough that we have the same opinions on everything and how stuff should look/act. So it's pretty easy to work together and just send things back and forth?
I imagine working from a distance isn't that hard even if it wasn't like that, but it just helps personally that anything I suggest was either already going to be done that way or is just agreed upon that that's how it should be.
I know, I'm trying
I'm also not very good at trying but,
i mean,
there's some effort there not to completely wreck my body
and I mean you have no presure since is project for fun
I have pressure
A LOT, RIP MY SANITY
still it will probaly be fun for you
I want to do something very simple with fight
but she is not the most consistent person with
Appearing
so I kinda wish I could do something
but with my time right now I bet there is only enough to exist
Yup you better not wreck your body
or else I will have to find a new one for you
and I will find a very gay one
but dont worry I will use a Potato as a temporal container for you
There is a little pressure though that if I don't work on it for a while I tend to drop projects to the side,
so I'm trying to work on it at least once a week even when I'm busy so it doesn't get left behind.
Well only planning something simple is a good start,
I actually met my programmer friend because we both got recruited for a massive project, which was far too much work for the small team they had, on top of people dropping out and the artistic vision changing a lot. It was kind of a mess because it was way too ambitious of a goal, especially for people not invested in the project.
I would chart out everything you'd need for the game and see how much rests on other people to help.
The less that other people have to do the simpler it will be to propose the idea
Also getting other people interested in the project helps.
My friend and myself are both invested and interested in the characters and plot, we both have a say in how things turn out, so there's something in it for both of us other than just having a game finished. I think that's a big part for a lot of people. If they're going to be working on something, especially a passion project, there has to be more than the idea that if it sells at the end they'll get part of the cut for their efforts.
Basically unless you're paying people for their time, you have to find a way for them to feel like the game they're working on is in some part theirs too.
But.. I don't want to be a potato
I could do with a new body that's less broken though, that would be fine.
is a lot of rip the yeen sometimes
I will do the stuff
but sometimes staying motivate looks impossible
I want to try that someday
I really want to make a turn base/ or like strategy base (fire emblem style game) with a lot of enphasis on story and choice
BUT, I would need help to go with it
I also understand what I mean
like the comic I wanna do
I want to get a couple of peple to share it with, feel like it belong to us so we can give it passion
Maaaybe some day I hope!
or get lots of moneys
and pay people
could work
but not something I cant do right now! *College studend squeak noises*
Ummmh
what would you like to be?
I could do with a less broken spirit sometimes
ohh well!
Though my anti-depressants have been really helping me,
I can do a lot more on my okay days,
and my bad days aren't as soul-crushingly awful.
Have you ever played Devil Survivor?
It's a Shin Megami Tensei game so it gets kinda brutal, but it sounds like something you maybe interested in?
At very least it would be a good experience for turn based strategy with a strong plot line and various endings based on choices as well as how you do with your game play.
I can give you tips to help beat it, if you do play, because it can be really unforgiving.
Anyway, my biggest advice if you're doing choice based storyline is take it slow, map it out, and finish one route at a time.
Having several open routes will leave you feeling like you've worked so hard but haven't accomplished much.
Also every split based on a choice may double your workload for writing, so that's something to remember.
For your comic have you considered an alternate way of telling the stories?
One solid narrative can work great for some things, but it's not the only way of creating a storyline.
If you want I can maybe send you a note with some examples, and how I got others to be part of and invested in my own webcomic idea?
Anything, really.
Just something that isn't developing chronic pain.
maybe just a really cool dog
but like,
with thumbs so I can draw still
I will check it out after this message!
Tips would help
I dont know if I am in the mood to be crushed over and over by a game!
Yup, I need to be very careful, since I have never done something like that before
I kinda have thought to write it all
(also one day I will make a game of it,well hopefully)
Is just that I dont have too much confidence in myself
and I wish I could say if the idea is engaging enough
I would appreciate the note, anything that helps me improve is always welcome!
BUT
you are a really cool dog already
just with broken pieces!
Also if you wanna see a very cool doggo
there is one on the archetype called Prakids (I am playing this deck and I have a lot of fun! Maybe you would like the art on them, you can check out the other cards)
https://www.amazon.com/Yu-Gi-Oh-Pra...../dp/B07G54S1LN
Basically the game works in hours of a day, and you only have 7 days before you reach an end.
Every time that you progress (when it's an option to you, it's not immediately) go out and grind a little in the free fight area until you have enough to buy the highest priced demon on the market. Each time you fight in one of these free spaces they get a little harder so it's much better to do it in little bits between each time advancement than to try and grind all in one go.
Buying the top demon is just helpful and grinding for the cash for it each time should be enough to carry you through to the end.
The OTHER thing that they don't tell you that made me have to restart is the first boss can ONLY be attacked by the main character for plot reasons. It's far better to boost his magic attack stats as you level, since magic is more versatile for hitting weaknesses, but for the first bit try to keep it even or higher than your magic attack stat because you're going to need him strong enough to take the boss out.
The final boss is also a boss rush PLUS the final boss so you'll run into the first boss again, so up attack a little even after you beat him, just because you're going to need to take him down in the middle of all hell breaking loose later.
I'll get the note written up
I mean yeah, but like,
I'm not an actual dog.
Being an actual dog would make life so much easier,
you just run around, eat, sleep, and bark at things randomly.
Unfortunetly I haven't really been into YGO lately since I have no one to play against.
Sometimes I see stuff from the latest anime though and that is WILD.
I may have to watch a walktrhought or something
I kinda...sold my ds and games
You know...saying goodbye to it and calling the switch my new love
Yeah I mean
You will lose videogames
and the ability to concentrate
even if you still had your thumbs
It will take you ages to draw!
since
you know
a fly
When I first played it it was on an emulator so that's an option too.
imo the route where you side with your cousin is the best,
so maybe try to find that if you're not up for watching through all the different paths?
Mainly it's just a good look at a strategy game with a strong plotline that isn't too long (compared to other games)
It makes you choose what to say, but also where to spend your time, because a lot of events happen at the same time of the day.
The gameplay is also involved in this, if you fail certain events it's not a game over it just means you've made some routes far harder.
mm true true, but also dogs get exited about chasing a ball so
don't need videogames when you get 110% enjoyment out of a basic yellow ball.
i would also enjoy being a frog.
all they do is eat bugs and swim
if that's not ideal, I dunno what is.
mostly i think just a simpler life would be nice
