I need some info for the bestie!! So here's what she needs to know! Any helps would be amaze! ^^ <3
Right, so I've been thinking more and more that I might want to move to Canada, BC in specific... But my first problem is that I have Type 1 Diabetes...
Being from the UK, i get all my meds and supplies on the NHS, so i don't have to pay for anything... I'm just wondering how health care and all that works over there???
Do you have to pay for health care in Canada ? How do you afford to have a long term issue and treat it ??
I also have depression that I'm taking meds for... but I could sacrifice them if I needed to just to save myself cost tbf... Just try to deal with it.
But yeah... How does the health care work???
Do you or do you know anyone who regularly gets meds and supplies for a health condition? Bonus points if its Diabetes lmao.

Almost all services are free however you will probably need to pay for medications and maybe even insulin or at least a portion of it.
Basically any doctors visits/hospital visits/ambulance rides, specialty doctors, shots, pain medication, having a baby etc is all free, however in most cases when you pick up prescriptions they will cost money, prices vary depending on the province and what kind of medication you are taking.
I know right now ill need 2 types of insulin, blood testing strips and/or a sensor for my libre freestyle, hypostop and other emergency hypoglycemic supplies.

Also, until you get your healthcard, you will have to pay for your things on your own. However..if you keep all your receipts/bills and turn them in, you should be reimbursed. That's what the lady at Plates told me (Plates is like, an all in one provincial/government office and DMV)
