Rambling Thoughts on Current Events

In eternity, where there is no time, nothing can grow. Nothing can become. Nothing changes. So death created time to grow the things that it would kill and you are reborn but into the same life that you've always been born into.
Okay this is actually a bit more specific and focused, but some years ago I decided to make a new character. Something a little bit different (just a little bit, I mean look at my damn gallery), so I did what I tend to do and looked on at my personal interests, went on some wiki walks, which lead to research, and I got the idea to make my character Yuri based on a new and specific breed of dog (more of a hybrid species, really) called a Sulimov Dog. This breed is distinctly Russian, but I had the idea to make him Ukrainian simply because Russian was a bit too obvious. Ukraine is right next door and although they and Russia haven't always been on the best of terms, they were still fairly close politically and such. Respectable neighbors, as far as I would have thought.
I had some fun ideas for Yuri and then real life took a rather dramatic turn when Russia invaded and annexed Crimea. Since that point I've been a little stuck in my own head with what to do with Yuri's background. I'm not letting that stop me from utilizing him, by any means, just I'm not sure if I should acknowledge this real life development in his own history, if it would be in bad taste to do so, or if it would be in bad to ignore it in his background. In other words, I keep over-thinking it.
Luckily the other things kind of putting his utilization at a stand still are more all the options in my head for what his world currently is (the fantasy world, obviously) and its part in a larger project. Actually I'll likely post a follow up journal discussing that later on.

To me it seems like you're over thinking it. But I'm neither Russian nor Ukrainian so I'm not the best person to ask.

OP
I'm most certain that I'm over-thinking the issue lol

Like I said, I'm probably not the best person to be asking. :p
