New character ramblings and stuff
Been thinking about modeling some new characters as some of you might have noticed from that one scrap image I posted a while back. I still don't have new gfx card (It revived for a week after not working for a week and then died again and hasn't done anything ever since) so I'm sort of limited on what I can do right now but I thought to ask you dudes and dudettes what would you prefer to see and some other things.
So anyway, I'm planning to model Mrs Brisby in case someone hasn't noticed. As usual I'm likely going to release the model for everyone to (ab)use so I guess it might be worth asking if you have any preferences regarding the character:
-Would you prefer to have the character with "real" fur or more stylized without fur? (Something like the rat girl but hopefully much better and not just crappy texture)
-Does anyone know if there already exists free "adult" version of her?
-Does anyone use my characters ? (Probably going to make the character(s) in Blender 2.8)
-If nobody needs the characters I guess there's not much sense in making them since I'm not sure if I have time to animate anything.
---
Then If I manage to get Brisby done I'd probably model Jenner the rat too but that might not happen any time soon. (Or does someone have better ideas?)
---
And then: I'm greatly embarassed seeing my old Cynder model being used in some SFM animations with its partially inverted normal map and in general shitty textures, crappy rig (made even worse by converting it into SFM model without bendy bones support, etc). :X So I just might try re-creating her one last time. And regarding that:
-What version of her would you prefer? The original one? Better version of the one I already did? Skylanders version? Or my own interpretation of her? Something else? Saw quite cute version of her in Artstation the other day. (No holes on that one though, of course)
-Do you think it would be worth it? There probably is some other version of her available too?
-Should she be equipped with 2 holes between her legs or cloaca?
-And 20 years from now I might create similarly styled Spyro too.
---
Oh and in case Brisby gets too annoying to do I might swap to Cynder as with her I don't have to worry about fur in any form.
But yeah that's about it... Actually I guess if nobody cares to see these characters feel free to suggest something else too. Not promising anything though.
---
Does anyone read these? Am I talking to myself here? It's soon 2am. Why am I still up drawing porn? What is the meaning of life? Why am I still writing stuff here? Stop it.

And I have no 3D rendering ability, but I do like looking at the things you upload.
And yes real fur is what makes 3D really the difference.
Glad to see what you come up with.
If you release your models it would be nice to also offer FBX as a fileformat.
As for my Brisby preferences, I think I would prefer her with real fur, mostly because it seems more realistic, and I'd love to try working with it lol, kinda selfish, but it's just my single vote (which I hope means little in the big picture)
Regarding Cynder. I've seen other versions of Cynder, and I still prefer your most recent version the most. But if you could make it better, I'll certainly be all over it. As for preferences: I'll vote for a vertical slit, which I suppose translates to the two holes option.
There's my singular comment, I'm not speaking for anyone else.
And you're definitely not alone with being up late for the pronz lol. Every time I animate, I find myself going late. T_T (worth)
I'll try my best to create fur on Brisby. Maybe it'll actually work out. :) Some Blender versions had some issues where models would be missing some faces when opened in different versio so maybe that's what is happening with the otters. They are quite old models anyway.
I'll probably keep the DotD as a base for new Cynder but trying to copy the ingame model (again) isn't very fun so I'll probably do some tweaks but we'll see.
The DotD version of Cynder is probably the one most folks are familiar with and, other than some tweaking, you could probably reuse much of the existing geometry you have. Tweak the geo, rebuild the textures and / or the rig, weights and drivers and you're golden. Though, it will still take a lot of time ( but you already know this :D )
I remember rebuilding her in Softimage | XSI but I'll be damned if I know what I did with the model :|
Real Fur - It always looks nice, but has always been a render time killer and / or a major pain in the ass to get it to look right at all in the first place. High density fur all the more so. If you're planning to run with a Frisby / Brisby model, I would only consider doing a fur-job at the end IF you're not completely burned out after the character build.
If, for no other reason, you should probably build her anyway just to keep your skills current. I am all too familiar with what happens when you don't play with this stuff for an extended period of time :|
I want to get back into this something terrible, but time is my enemy as I never seem to have enough of it.
And about Brisby: I kinda have to decide the fur situation before making the actual model as there will be significant changes to the way I model her depending on whether I aim for fur or cartoony sculpted "fur" Blender 2.8 has had some improvements to the hair system so maybe it'll be better. And with good luck Eevee will render the fur well enough for simple porn animation. Then rendering time isn't an issue.
Well I do 3d stuff at work so I don't think I'll forget how to 3d although I haven't done character stuff in a while. That's one reason I'm planning to do these projects.
Yeah I don't have much time for this stuff either and if I do have it is way too easy to end up procrastinating the whole evening instead of doing something useful.
Supposedly it handles fur well if their tiger demo is to be believed. ( Though I can't tell if that's Eevee or Cycles ) I understand the fur problem though. A smaller / thinner frame is needed if you're going to go full fur vs a textured one. Keeps the model from looking all " Chonk / Big Unit " for lack of a better term. :)

This is the story of my life right now :|
I have the idea.
I have all the tools I'll ever need.
annnnnnd . . . . . I'll waste an entire evening on Reddit or something
Yep that's the thing with real fur. Exterior shape should be done with fur instead of geometry
And yep imgur and youtube kill my already dead productivity levels even more. Along with not getting anything done anyway.
