Back from my first HEMA tournament!
So, I spent this last weekend at Baton Rouge Open. And I gotta say it was more awesome than I could have hoped.
Not all of the equipment I had ordered for myself had arrived yet by the time I'd headed out for the tournament, but they ended up having plenty of loaner gear there, and my instructor also had packed some extra gear that I was able to use as well. Furthermore, Purpleheart Armory had set up a shop there too, so I was able to get some awesome new gear right there on the spot, including a new jacket, a protective hood, and an awesome new feder sword!
As for the tournament itself, with it being my first time, I wasn't expecting to do very well, and I had considered not even entering the tournament, instead just casually sparring with whoever I could and taking a few of the classes they had to offer there. But OOOH I'm so glad that I ended up entering! Even though I didn't get any wins, I actually did a lot better that I thought I would have. Had a couple very close matches, and went up against several amazing opponents. But most importantly, every single bout was a very valuable learning experience, and a great time! I left the event as a better fighter, and eager for more! And I look forward to the day that I can meet each and every one of these people in combat again!

Hope you have some pictures of you all suited up to show us~
Think I'm going to have to get some new gloves before next time. Rewatching the fights now, I noticed a few spots where what I SHOULD have done would have been impossible with the bulky gauntlets I was using. lol
