Pokémon Woolo Super Rant
For context I found this post on FB: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Swi.....3051675365204/ You can read now:
So... Let me get this straight. First ya'll complain that they're becoming too complex and they look nothing like the old pokémons from your childhood. Then, when they make them simpler and closer to how they looked back in the day, you say they have nothing special.
Here's a hard to swallow pill:
You know nothing about design and how it objectively work, you have no idea of the thought and creative process behind any character and you're quite probably saying this based on your personal taste, which is ->NOT<- the taste of the thousands of people playing the game that are simultaneously complaining about what you do find enjoyable in your pokémon. Deal with the fact that gen 1 had some boring-ass looking creatures, some weird and funny ones and only a few VERY cool exceptions and that each and EVERY ONE of them had a kid loving the hell out of it and MAYBE you'll start appreciating more of the new gens and, in turn, you'll start getting a better hold of when they're actually doing something a tiny bit wrong (which is goddamn human).
You don't even realize that you complaining so passively is part of the enterteinment and advertisement, some of you probably complain just because it's fun more than anything.
It's fine for you to have a personal opinion about something, but don't try to make it pass like it's THE opinion. Wooloo is fine: -> FINE <-
It's not like you can have a fucking Mewtwo with every announcement.
Sorry that's how it is.

Roll away from the haters Wooloo
Wooloo, on the other hand, is simple and lovable in design, has an adorable quirk that makes it stand out from just being a sheep (in its behavior, which is a great choice), and best of all, you can visually remember its details in your head. Remembering what something looks like in your mind is really important for marketing, because the more complicated things become, the more forgettable they are. Picturing what they are in your mind with clarity is vital, and it's why we remember hundreds of Pokemon and love them.
Also, a Pokemon's design is everything. In competitive play, the focus is on winning, so the Pokemon itself doesn't matter so much as its stats, moves, and typing. However, even there, there are players that have a favorite and want it to be the best in the business. We get attached to these creatures, just as we get attached to our pets in real life. Why shouldn't they reflect animals in real life, then?
Yes, Wooloo is "just a sheep". Arbok is "just Kobra spelled backwards", but people LOVE Arbok. I may find Wooloo to be simple, but the only thing that I think is wrong with it is the pronunciation of its name. Wool-oo sounds more like those naming conventions of the past, where Pidgey was a pidgeon and Swellow was a swallow. But even then, it's not that big of a deal, just a personal opinion. Woo-loo is still friggin adorable.
There's over 800 of the critters by now, and more coming. You'd think that people could forgive some designs they find dumb, and focus on the ones they like. But guess GenWunners gonna GenWun.
Oh, and Wooloo is goddamn adorable c:
Also fans: This pokemon is too simple
its a coalescent location of nothing but bruh moments
it's an official pokemon design so oh well, everybody just gonna have to live with it.
