Tbh, i agree with you here lol, literally the only thing that's exciting about this game and the few others before this, were some of the Pokemon designs and some of the trainers/gym leaders/champions etc.

I was excited for it at first, especially cause it was gonna be based in my country but as time went on and more and more kinda lazy attitudes were taken and you can plainly see them in the gameplay demos and stuff, they're just not putting in the effort anymore, although it's such a good thing to finally get a Pokemon main series game on a console that isn't the 3DS, it's just not as exciting as it used to be, and they improved the game so much as it went through the generations but somewhere along the line they just stopped updating the animations and everything else that wasn't to do with making the game look nicer.


I'm not interested in buying it mainly because all my money will be going towards AC next year xD and because gamefreak are just getting worse.....So the money saved from buying this game will be going towards my AC obsession and the possible merch/amiibos that'll come with it ;D

Something scary I heard is that part of the reason this is happening is because the pokemon games are sort of being phased out in a way. Pokemon GO for example has grossed 1.8 billion dollars so far, which iirc is %5 of what Gamefreak has made in the history of their existence. If it's that easy to pimp out Pokemon, a lot of execs assume pokemon doesn't need too much focus, and as a result, they're not really at full steam. They expect the pokemon games to be a steady income regardless of quality, so they believe they should diversify, which is why Gamefreak is also developing a game called Town at the same time. If Sword/Shield sells as well as all the others do, I think it means it's all downhill from here.
