Anime Boston 2019 (Part 3) Final
General
So my cuz and I woke up a little later then usual, since on Sunday, AB starts almost 2 hours later. We arrived there by 9:30 am. We missed the film “Penguin Highway” since it overlapped with another panel. It was fine, since the DVD release would be out soon.
The first panel was “Beyond Pokemon” which talked about the different monster collecting genres of games and anime. Yo-kai Watch was mentioned and took up a good chunk of the panel. A ton of people were fawning over Jibanyan (while I was fawning over Whisper lol). Some anime from that penal I wanna check out are Mon Collie Knights and Shadowstar Narutaru, which are subversions of the genre.
Only thing that was annoying about the panel, was this kid in the audience, talking over the host for half of the panel. Kid... shaddup! After the first half, his mom began to try to keep him quiet, since he was being disruptive.
After that, we had an hour to kill, and we hit a panel about bad anime intros... and I can see why some of them are bad. Next was the Voice Actor Round Table, where most of the anime dub VA guests would be. Johnny Yong Bosch was in this. Here were the best questions that were asked by fans to him:
Fan: Now, say that there was a fatal accident and you died-"
All VAs: ".................."
Johnny Yong Bosch: "........ SECURITY!"
Security: (Makes a false attempt to tackle the fan, but laughs and walks away.)
Fan: "What is the weirdest thing that a fan wanted you to sign."
Johnny Yong Bosch: "A glazed doughnut. Those are hard to sign, but I managed to do it."
Another fan: "What's your favorite ship from My Hero Academia?”
Johnny Yong Bosch: "The Titanic."
These were hilarious! Hope he visits AB again in the future!
We only had an hour of AB left, so we went to browse around the dealers room for a while for last minute things. I bought Steven Universe Season 2, since it was released over the weekend, and this cute squish fish.
There were only 5 min left in the Dealers room, and my cuz wanted to meet the creator of Cyanide & Happiness who was taking autographs. Mid sentence when I was looking up from the map, I saw this adorable fish sitting on a table for sale. I squished it, and decided to get him. He now sits on my bed with Whisper :3
My cuz got to meet the C&H creator, got an autograph and a photo, then we were on our way to the Closing ceremonies! After on stage shenanigans and the works, they ended pretty early this year. We watched the music videos, then headed to the hotel room. We packed up and left to my house. My cuz was gonna crash for the night. We talked about AB, what went on in our lives, bashing Disney live action films, etc. stopped by Outback Steakhouse since I had a $50 gift card from my 5th anniversary gift from work.
When we arrived home, we watched the My Hero Academia movie, then fell asleep. My cuz left in the morning since he had a 12 hour drive ahead of him. Then post con depression.
We plan for Anime Boston 2020, and I was thinking of cosplaying as Bakugo for next year, but that could change. Looking forward to the next one!
