Our current Governor is a corrupt asshat, shit's fucked up
Several people were arrested by the FBI for corruption, including our secretary of education, Julia Keleher. A leaked telegram chat between some of the most powerful people (including the governor). The chat contained homophobic and sexist content, mocking the 4,000+ people who died as a result of Hurricane Maria in 2017, there's evidence that the government withheld hurricane relief supplies (THERE ARE STILL THOUSANDS OF PALLETS OF WATER SITTING SOMEWHERE IN DORADO THAT SPOILED UNDER THE HOT SUN, BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER GIVEN TO HURRICANE VICTIMS EVEN TWO YEARS AFTER MARIA) even a death threat against the mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulín Cruz. For people this was the final straw in the long and colorful history of the Puerto Rican government's corruption. There have been MASSIVE protests this week (biggest one I've seen in my life), which eventually got violent, police are shooting rubber rounds and launching tear gas at the capital. People are sick and tired of the rampant corruption, and we want the current governor Ricardo Roselló to step down.
