[POLL] In what format should I upload animations to FA?
General
So doing the last few animations, I noticed that uploading them to FA is always a hassle. The website doesn't support .mp4 or .webm formats (yet), so I need to rely on third party hoster or services. To let watchers know about them on here, I am stuck with one of these three options:
1. Post a still picture preview
This is the simplest way and also allows for people who just want the picture file to save it. However, it has shown that it can confuse people who don't read the description. :P
2. Post an animated .gif preview
The .gif format takes a considerable amount of bandwidth and also doesn't allow for sound to be played. So I can only use it as short, resized previews of the actual animation. However, It works out of the box on all devices.
3. Post a .swf Flash animation.
Flash is on it's way to be abandoned and doesn't work on mobile devices. It also generally doesn't allow for great looking video compression and it is a lot of trouble to convert the animations to flash. It would however allow for the upload of the full animation with sound.
I made a strawpoll where you can vote for the format that you would prefer:
You can also let me know in the comments if you have a different idea of what I should do. :3 However, please keep in mind: This only concerns the direct upload to FA. I will of course use other websites like gfycat or upload services to make the animations available until FA allows for the files to be uploaded directly.
Looking forward to your feedback! :3

FA+

Besides, if someone's not smart enough to look at the description, that's on them, not you. l3 Especially if the preview thumbnail or the title literally says that it's an animation.
It's just frustrating when people don't realize again and again that it's an animation, because they don't read the title or description. x3
Having even a 20 or 30 meg limit and webm or mp4 support would be nice, administrators. hint hint*
.gif is definitely a good option to give people an idea of the animation, but like with a still picture, it can confuse people who don't understand that it's only a preview. So maybe a still picture might be an even better option?
Usually I would be for 3, but flash stopped working in my main browser a while ago and as it's dead 2020 anyway, browser support will quickly drop
I'd post a representative picture and link to everything in the description.
A gif loop shouldn't be too heavy as a file and shouldn't necessit too much compression
I do very much like to have a nice format for saving such things in and already have downloaded a good couple of your animations to my hard drive.^^
