Frustrated

I almost was so close to just deleting this account because people are assholes. Someone said some not so pleasant things about something I created(not on my original creation but when it was shared with the cooking group) and it made me feel some type of way because to me it felt like this person was being an elitist asshole. He talked about my presentation negatively and then I called him on it and he just threw around his whole "I'm a chef" bullshit and whatnot.
Like I guess it irked me because he was like "even if your cooking just for fun , always give 100% cooking is no job , its your passion".........as if you can tell by someone's presentation that they aren't passionate nor gave 100%.
It's frustrating when people criticize something of yours and it's not helpful, especially when it comes to food presentation. I'm not a professional so why the fuck did he even care? I share my recipes(no matter how bad they look) because 100% of the time, it's edible/consumable and I like experimenting and stuff.
Just eh sorry for the rant. I just feel that when people comment on food, if it's not constructive shut the fuck up and keep your opinion to yourself because telling someone how their food is presented literally does nothing but shatter their confidence.
But anyways, as you were.

Wuff is SO glad you didn't succumb to that nasty acidic person and delete your account. You have very inventive and tasty creations! And wuff would be sad to lose your delightful recipes and ideas!
Sadly, it's not just food that attracts those sorts of attacks. Look at nearly every artist on FA. Chat with some, and you'll find that almost all of them will have horror stories about feedback - especially when they're just getting started and not up to some arbitrary "pro standard" these lame-O's seem to think everyone has to meet.
As for presentation - *LOL* You should SEE some of the stuff wuff whips together when he's in a hurry, or when one of his experiments goes awry! *laughs* And, frankly, there are a LOT of dishes that really just don't look all that appetizing or "presentable", but have delicious flavors! Vrghr does try to dress his dishes up for the photographs where he can, but really, the taste takes priority over appearance when there's a choice to make.
As for the feedback - - there is a "Right way" and a "Wrong way" to critique something, be it food, music, writing, or anything else. And one of the FIRST steps is to ask, "are you open for critique". Not everyone wants or is receptive, and even those who are don't always want it on everything. If the answer is "no" - it's time to shut up and walk away.
For those times the answer is "yes", there comes another set of 'rules'. Wuff has a whole post of "The art of the constructive critique", and it sounds like it might be time to post that up again. But the bottom line is "CONSTRUCTIVE". Simple things like "ugly", "Don't Like It", or "Yuck" are NOT a critique! Those are purely destructive with No redeeming quality.
One should diplomatically offer distinct deficiencies or issues, phrased in polite and clinical terms, and follow with useful recommendations on how to correct or improve the issues. And once again, all of that should be presented in constructive and not destructive ways. And to repeat - even the best and most constructive feed back should be SILENT if the artist doesn't want it!!
*HUGS* Keep cooking, Foxcat! You do you! Don't let one fur's ugly attitude keep you from doing something you enjoy!

Wuff posted it up on Fur Affinity. You might want to point this out to the next toxic person who slams your cooking. Perhaps they'll find some useful ideas and such there.

Bon Appetite! And Keep Cooking!
