Nope.

Everything about the way they did that CGI, particularly the characters' faces, just gets you right in the lizard brain. It all just tells you "Something ISN'T right here!" -_- it's a shame, I know people who really love this musical and would have loved to see a big screen adaptation.

Yup. It's creeeepy.

To the best of my knowledge/ability to explain, some stuff just...strikes people. The "Uncanny Valley" effect is a very real thing (fun fact, it's also why clowns unnerve so many people), and the way we're build makes a number of people react thus. I have seen other instances where reaction to something like this trailer was mixed because of said effect. My issue here is that the CGI is just far too jarring. Seeing similar issues has also pushed me away from other movies I might enjoy and have heard good things about, sadly.

All that being said, if you (and anyone else) are not put off by, I sincerely hope it's a treat for you! I found the premise entertaining myself, but never could get real into the musical (like I said, love it/hate it thing). My apologies if the tone of my journal seems hateful, I actually tried to avoid that, but the lizard brain is a huge problem >_>

Battle Angel Alita is one of the ones I've been hearing good things about but yeah those eyes I just...can't.

I have seen the Broadway play (both live and on video) and yes, this is cringe worthy with CGI. Some of the cats look like the producers used blackface for some of the cats. I will admit, there is a few of the characters that the CGI did justice to, just not all of them.
