Geeze! What a time trip. Now I must say that I enjoyed the video, plus the excellent job of mixing and editing that zippy Jazz score with the images. It made me kind of sadly nostalgic seeing faces and art I haven't seen since then. I'm not certain if I made it to ConFurence 11 in 2000, but I caught glimpses of many others I had seen at other cons. It's difficult to believe that event took place almost 20 years ago. Noticeably remembered in passing were Fred Patten, James Hardiman and in a way, Mitch Berio who's distanced himself from the fandom.

Um... to the best of my knowledge, Beiro is still serving a 10-year prison sentence in Arizona for possession of child pornography. (He was arrested in 2012, and sentenced in 2013.) So he hasn't "distanced himself" from the fandom, so much as he's been forcibly cut off from it.

I'll go with that. I've read very little after his arrest.

Other than one news article posted on-line I don't know if I've READ anything about it. The latest info I have came from a conversation with Schirm in a meeting at a rest stop on the way up to FC2013. He is the only person I know to have talked to Mitch after his arrest.

From what I've heard he told people shortly after his arrest that he plans to keep away from the fandom even when released. That may be a long time as he is facing other charges once his sentence runs out.

The only thing that ever got edited from CF12 was his wedding to Minerva. I am not sure if it should be posted however.

Oh? I hadn't heard that... or that there were other charges pending, for that matter. Did they find evidence he was involved in more incidents than what he was initially charged with, or something?
