This is something which has been on my mind for a long while now.
I'm not sure if I really needed this long to figure it out for myself or if it just took this long to accept, but:
Procrastination has become my biggest enemy.
Partially this is to blame on my current job, but as I now realise - only partially. Having a lot of downtime and needing to work at many places for short periods of time. (~15 mins)
Taking out my phone has s become a firm habit, 9gag, imgur, Twitter and Telegram are things I spend on hours every day, usually just lurking.
This is not good.
So, I got a new job upcoming, and in three days I'll have the last day at this employer, so it's probably a good time to Form new habits anyhow.
Following this journal I'll be uninstalling said apps from my phone. The constant ping has become a real Pavlov's bell for me, and since I got a company Sim in my phone too I can't just turn it off. Luckily a thing that will change with the new job, putting my phone away entirely is going to help tremendously.
I want to spend time on social media more consciously, and talk to my friends with focus and attention, instead of just on the side.
What do I hope to gain from this?
A better attention span, more productivity. It's not a secret that I take ages to finish commissions, and it's pissing me off just as much.
In the end, to all my friends and acquaintences on Telegram: I'm sorry that I'll be this much less approachable. I hate doing this myself, but that just shows how much I am dependant on my phone.
Leave me your messages, I'll answer when I'm at my PC. I'm sure you all understand my reasoning.
And hey! If you got some issues with procrastination, or got any tips to help overcome it, let me know. There's contact Infos on my profile, but discussing in the comments is just as fine.
Cheers!

It's probably best to change that habit yeah. The best thing about text is that we can reply in our own time. If anything you'll probably start to wish people be more direct with their messages. Like saying more than just 'hey'. xD
And yeah, it's definitely a thing people tend to do, leaving one word messages. Heck, it's a thing I like to do, so yeah, gonna have to change some habits.
As long you have them around there always the chance to get distracted from them.
When they not around it takes a bit of time but you can get used to it.
I never had a phone use like you describe, but I would consider maybe only pull up the phone when you need it. Like when you need to look something up on the Web, or when you need to do a phone call.
For messangering. I think that can stay on the home PC.
At last that my own approach. have all messangers uninstalled at work place. And only use them in private at home.
Leider ist es sehr schwer eine Gewohnheit fallen zu lassen, und noch viel mehr da man ständig das Gefühl hat etwas zu verpassen. Man will jederzeit überall sein.
