Hello my dear friendos!
I'm wondering how many artists who watch me here?
I'll never really know, but what I was going to ask is;
What do you do when you have an art block? What's your best way to get rid of it?
I know many artists have art blocks on different levels
and everyone has different ways of handling it,
and I'm just very curious on how you guys cope with it!
Thank you .

Plants, animals, objects, people, etc. Or you can use your imagination and draw randomly from that.
As long as you're drawing then it'll help break that wall. :)
usually when I have an art block I try drawing with different things instead of digital: pencil, ink ,etc...
another one is drawing things that I dont draw or out of my comfort zone: monsters , muscle guys, rtc...
and lastly I draw things that I always wanted to draw for me.
hope it helps , have a nice weekend c:
1) I take a break and go do different things that have NOTHING to do with art. The more opposite, the better. So going out for a walk or cycling or meeting up with friends or drinking coffee at a cafe will really help for me. I need to get out of the space where I draw and have something fresh.
2) I draw stupid stuff, make doodles that I mindlessly do. Usually it's the same generic 3/4th view I draw over and over again. Sometimes I tell myself to draw something ugly on purpose. Sometimes I tell myself to draw with my non-dominant hand. I don't need to draw something pretty, I can just start drawing without any idea. Usually I end up drawing the emotions I am feeling at that specific moment.
3) I do start drawing/planning something out, but I limit the task very much for myself. For instance, I tell myself to only roughly block out the drawing I want to make. Not even properly sketch, but just... Blocks. And nothing more. The day after maybe half a sketch. Make the goals small. If that is too much, maybe tell yourself to draw at least one line a day. Doesn't have to be part of a drawing. Just... One line.
Having these tools to use when I get stuck helps a lot. But next to that, I have noticed that it's not only important what you do about your art block, it's also how you treat yourself when you're in your art block. It doesn't help to get angry at yourself, everyone experiences art block. It's important to talk to yourself as if you were your own best friend and tell yourself it's okay. It's okay to have days where you have trouble drawing, don't beat yourself up over it. Don't be mean to yourself. Allow yourself the time to come back to where you were before the art block.

Sometimes doing artwork for yourself helps as well. : )
and what I typically do if I have an art block is one of three things.
#1) Look for inspirations
basically, as others said, watch anime, look at other's arts, etc, what ever gets you inspired.
#2) work on another project.
if you can anyway, if you can't work on one project but can do another, try that and come back to it again later.
#3) Do something else.
If I can't draw, I write,
if I can't write, I make 3D models.
Usually I can do one of the three, and this one works the best for me.
I hope this helps a little, I know its a bit "Well Duh..."
but its what I do...
2) cry
Always helps
If that does not work theres alwasy trying to find ways of becoming inspired and with that getting out of art block.
